It's fairly obvious to any observer that our diminished Judiciary still can't fathom what is needed to restore dignity, confidence and honor to our crumbling judicial system. While political maneuvering runs rampant in a judiciary fraught with self inflicted and problematic scenarios, the most patent solution evades even the most learned of our colleagues. The answer can most often be found in the essentials of the equation itself it seems to me. An artificial, politically motivated scheme will only in the long term create further difficulties. Sincerity dictates an infusion of a different kind. One that brings with it a new way of thinking, and more importantly, new blood to a judicial system that has suffered a congestive heart failure of sorts, both of conscience and duty.

Tobin would add some new blood to this bloodless corpse.

Where does Lynch stand on term limits? Is he willing to rotate the judges? Is he willing to stop building jails? Or is he just going to continue Dale's program?

Wasn't Lynch a public defender a long time ago? Didn't he used to fight for the poor?

What happened to him? Why did he buy into Dale's routine?

The TV said Spechler and Cowart couldn't be found this afternoon for comment. Where were they? The golf course or the tennis court?

Can judges be disciplined if the JQC determines that they are attempting to manipulate/politik the process by which a Chief Judge is elected? Are there any rules about this?

Ross helped Tom with his personal life. Remember the sealed records Ross doesn't know anything about?

The JQC's job is to protect judges from critisism, or at least that's the way its appeared lately.

Maybe they should resign from the bench all together. Why aren't they trying to find solutions to all the problems they helped create?

How did Lynch get his judgeship so early in his career?

That would take real work. They are to busy politicking.

Tom was a public defender all those years ago before Ross.

Do these guys really think they can bandage this hemorrhaging judiciary? Just bring in a person who's fresh, bright and can bring some confidence back to it.

Channel 10 coverage of these most recent events left the viewer with more unanswered questions than answered ones. Like why did they resign? And why were they not available for comment on the issue? Sounds like the Broward Judiciary to me. Do these people in the strangest sense think they're celebrities or something? I though they were supposed to be answerable to the public in their positions. I guess they think they don't have to be. What does that say about occupying positions of public trust, that they don't think they have to respond to public inquiry?
  • 5/31/2007 7:33 AM Anonymous wrote:
Same old response, duck and weave. It's far easier to operate outside the light of public scrutiny, especially if you're up to something. Why can't they just talk to the members of the media? What are they afraid of? What is going on here?

No one is talking about the J.A.'s that work for these Judges. I am soooo tired of these girls never answering their phones and when they do, most of them are very rude and incompetent. Why don't we clean house there also so that we can get our work done efficiently.

Clearly the main point that isn't identified is that is a direct violation of the Judicial Canons and Rules of Profesional Conduct and Rules of Judicial Administration to do anything that discredits or undermines confidence in the courts and the judicial process. Where is the JQC when it's needed to do its proper duty? Where is Fred Lewis to oversee it? Where is the the legislature to investigate it--Alex Villalobos? Where is the state grand jury. Where is the statewide prosecutor? Where is the AG to stop it?
