Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with this Hero's family. He gave his life protecting and serving the citizens of the county he loved. He will be missed.

It is pathetic that people would bicker about Sgt Reyka's death. Leave it to this group to find something to fight about after this deputy was murdered in cold blood by a rash of gunfire.
What planet are you on? JAAB wrote about chris and said he was a hero, and that our prayers were with his family. The person above you wrote I wish we had more good cops like this fellow.
A number of members of the Fla. Bar stopped what they were doing today to pay respects to a person they probably did not even know. Criminal Defense attorneys such as Perry Thurston, Mike Dutko, and myself (BTW I did know him), various members of the Public Defenders Office, State Attorneys such as Ari Porth, John Countryman, and various others as well as Judges such as Schiff, Frusciante, Pollack, and several others (Don't know their names)showed up to pay respects to a damn good man. If I managed to see those, I am sure countless others were there. I was actually proud of the turnout from the courthouse, and the police officers whom I had the pleasure of sitting with verbalized their appreciation to see those who went present and paying respects. No one on this sight is fighting about this deputies death but you, please pay this deputy the homage he is deserved.

I saw the motorcycle honor guard from Palm Beach headed toward the funeral on 95 this morning. I choked back tears. The unity and support for this man and his family engendered by this senseless loss of life can be seen as the only positive thing to come of such a brutal, hateful act.
