"We have run out of courtrooms," said Circuit Judge Ana Gardiner, who heads the criminal division. "There is not one spare courtroom. We don't even have closets."
"The judges said they were willing to explore greater use of satellite courthouses, but noted that posed logistical problems. They also said they could assign a magistrate to hold hearings at the jail, but said the county would have to set up space to do so. They also have assigned judges to plow through a backlog of complex business litigation cases."

There's plenty of courtrooms free after 2:30 P.M. Broward citizens aren't going to pay for another complex when our present courthouse is not being used. As admin. judge, I suggest you take a stroll through the courthouse in the afternoon.
This blog should have laid low during the CJ election. Without Lynch/Ross this blog is nothing. Nada. Kaput. Boooooring. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.. Achoo. Sniffle.

Makes sense to me. Skeletons are bulky.
They've been saying this for years. That's really stupid. First of all there's no parking so even if you had the extra courtrooms, you'd have zero spaces to park.
Then there's the other thing. satellite courthouses that could be used to try civil cases.
I know. Judges don't want to go to the outhouse if they can have their trials next to chambers.

What would most of our judges admit as their main career goal/apex?
To sit on the Florida Supreme Court?
To sit on the US Supreme Court or Federal Appeals?
To be a US Congressperson?

To be a TV Judge, presiding over clogged toilets and the like.
It's no mistake many of the TV judges come from South Florida.
I have to say one thing is refreshing about the TV judge shows though.
They never ask about the prior record.
Both the defendant and the plaintiff, like in our criminal courts, usually have horrible records. Here whoever calls first goes down, justice be damned (judge/PD closes case, State gets conviction, jail/prison gets funded).
Not on TV, it's more on the merits - funny, reality TV is realer than real Florida Courtrooms.

wrong. the essential problem is an elected judiciary. appointments for life make for jurists who follow the law.

HOLD NIGHT COURT WHEN YOU CAN ACTUALLY FIND A PLACE TO PARK AND BRING BROWARD COUNTY INTO THE 21ST CENTURY. BROWARD CITIZENS HAVE SPOKEN ON THIS SUBJECT JUDGE GARDINER.
