 Judge Cheryl Aleman

"JUDGE FACES ONE FEWER CHARGE":
http://www.dailybusinessreview.com/news.html?news_id=45788

"During a telephone status conference Wednesday, the state Judicial Qualifications Commission dismissed a charge concerning Aleman’s conduct during a sick inmate’s request to be released from jail because he was dying of AIDS...

Earlier this year, the JQC dismissed the same issue from the initial notice of formal charges. The JQC later filed the charge against Aleman again...

Judge Aleman will go to trial on these charges on Dec. 4 in Fort Lauderdale. It is expected to last three days."

Maybe she'll learn to curb her fundamentalist leanings when it comes to performing her duties. Or maybe not.

uh oh. death threats, I am sure one of Aleman's character witnesses already has the FBI on the phone.

Also, since that death threat appears to have been spoken in a hispanic accent, that character witness will also be surely contacting INS. I think he still has their number on speed dial from his days in Hollywood.

These mean spirited comments are directed at the poor AIDS patient, I'm sure.

Nice try though. Death threats. Really.

How can a judge rule this way when the State and Defense AGREED to let the sick dude out????? Why couldn't he be allowed some dignity when BOTH sides agreed????

in an early effort to stifle dissent on this blog, it has been confirmed that the former Ct. Administration held a mtg on how to stop all this criticism of the judges.

Magically, about 2-3 weeks later, a bar complaint was sent in anonymously with some negative (name calling) against Aleman.

The Bar claims to have taken it on itself - but, since it is just following up on what what discussed earlier at the mtg b/t the Bar & the admin., the Bar is really just acting like the lackey for the judges.

Come on Bar, defend one of your own - who from what I read, was just exercising free speech and brought into the spotlight an illegal practice by Judge Aleman which was quickly chaged back to normal after being exposed!

636 so now its one of the Judges that initiated the complaint not the guy who apparently been wrongfully accused for months?

The rule is clear, you can disagree with it, have Jack Thompson sue over it, but until the rule is changed it is clear that there are certain things that can be said about a judge and things you cant say. He violated the rule in regards to what he said about Aleman. I personally dont agree with the rule but until it is changed it is the rule.

I wouldn't miss her if she were to go. The governor really made some mistakes when he picked Aleman and O'Connor to serve as judges. They've been nothing but trouble, both of them. Can't seem to just do their jobs without turning the courtroom into a circus with them as the center of attention. It's kind of sad. Then they complain they're being criticized and picked on when they can't control themselves. Have they forgot what they're supposed to be doing? They all do.

fyi from a civil attorney. You cannot get a hearing from this judge. Motion calendar is supposed to be an easy way to dispose of short, sometimes uncontested matters. Her favorite trick is to allow you to set a hearing with the proper notice, then after sitting on it for a day or two she has her ja mail it back to you with a note that motion calendar is full (so you can waste about 2 weeks). And here is the punchline....her full motion calendar does not include foreclosures.....all foreclosures are being shipped to Damoorgian....I think she is working about 50 per cent of the time.

Don't feel sorry for the girl. She's made some pretty horrendous mistakes in the past and continues to do so again and again. What do we need another judge like this on the bench for? She forgot a long time ago that she's supposed to be a neutral arbitrator and not a circus clown!
