CONGRATULATIONS TO CARLOS REBOLLO. HE IS A FINE MAN THAT WILL DO A FINE JOB AND BRING INTEGRITY TO THE JUDICIARY, AND AS FAR AS I KNOW HE DOES NOT SMOKE IN PUBLIC PARKS

Destry was expected but Rebello is a very pleasant surprise. Congrats to both. It's good to hear that Seidlin and Korda, two big and long time losers, are being replaced by such good additions to pretty much a screwed up judiciary, with a few exceptions.

I'm very happy for you Carlos! Please, no long acceptance speech thanking God for your good fortune. And whatever you do, don't listen to any of the other judges. Follow your own good principles and remain the great person you are.

The best thing about matthew destry's appointment is that eileen oconnor will no longer get the rap for being the most unfair, mean, intolerant, anti defense judge.

    Buckle up folks.

Anyone who has few, if any, ties to the cesspool formerly occupied by Korda and Seidlin is a welcome relief.

I hope they don't get polluted by all the tripe floating about the courthouse in the process.

Happy Thanksgiving, Carlos. You deserve it. Please don't become corrupted by anyone they assign you to teach you how to be a judge. You don't need any help in that department. Remain true to yourself and avoid the ones they'll send to indoctrinate you. You have abilities that the others never had or have forgotten all about. The best to you this holiday season. Keep to yourself.

Broward lawyer picked as ChildNet's new CEO

ChildNet's board of directors selected a local attorney and longtime children's rights defender to run the Broward child advocacy group after a nationwide search.

Emilio Benitez will be the new chief executive officer. He has acquired more than a decade's experience in children's advocacy work, ChildNet announced Wednesday.

Benitez, a lawyer in private practice, was the first chair of ChildNet's board of directors, in 2003, and remained on the board until earlier this year, when he was appointed by Gov. Charlie Crist to the Children's Services Council of Broward.

Destry is a good guy with brains. He did defense work for seven years and became board certified. He may have helped Crist get elected, but he is well qualified and has a great demeanor.
    Carlos aint bad either.

Rebollo and Milian are both fine people that don't lack strength of conviction. You can go after either one of them, but you can't say they never believed in what they were doing. Both of them are equally compassionate and reasoned and have the life experience that lends itself to multi dimensional thinking and application of will beyond just the exercising of it. I forget who once said "There is no escape from power once you have it." But I remain convinced that both of these people can transcend the pettiness involved in the body politic and excel and improve equal and just application of law.
Heartfelt congratulations to you Carlos! Your new position could not have gone to a better person. The kind, generous and thoughtful attitude you bring to the job you now occupy is well deserved. Happy Thanksgiving.

Whatever happend to the shoe-in Raag Singal for one of the positions? Must have been viewed as too close to the rotten political establishment he's been playing with for years. To bad, he's a decent quy. Show me who you walk with and I'll tell you who you are ...
Another casualty of Broward Judicial Politics.

Raag - great guy - agrees with everybody, stands for nothing. No backbone. He cried over a defendant who killed a cop (during closing argument no less!) Cops will always simply sens e-mails, letters, and telephone the JNC and/or Governor.

Raag as judge - will never happen.

Is Dave Bogenschutz suppose to be a judge-maker in Broward County?
If he is I don't think he faired very well. I think backing Raag Singhal and Phyllis Kotey was a big mistake. Raag is a fake and Kotey has serious temperament and other problems. And I must say, as much as I respect Dave, representing the likes of Ken Jenne, Cheryl Aleman, Ilona Holmes and many others of the same ilk is not something I would be proud of. His partner Mike Dutko is too busy admiring himself to tell Dave he may want to shy away from politicos who have brought and are bringing shame and disgrace to this County. I have more respect for Dave when he represents the mafia hitman that killed Gus Boulis.

P.S. Why didn't Ana Gardiner testify at Ken Jenne's sentencing? Gardiner has always told everyone Ken Jenne is avery close friend. Does anyone think Ana Gardiner is currently keeping a low profile and trying to stay below the radar after telling the County Commission the judges don't have enough courtrooms, not even closets?
