Governor Crist Appoints Dorian Damoorgian to 4th District Court of Appeal

TALLAHASSEE – Governor Charlie Crist today announced the appointment of Dorian Damoorgian of Fort Lauderdale to the 4th District Court of Appeal.

“With almost 30 years’ experience in law, Dorian provides a diverse background and broad understanding of Florida’s legal system,” said Governor Crist.  “I am confident his deep respect for the laws of our state will allow him to continue serving Floridians in this new capacity.”

Damoorgian, 52, graduated from American University and Cumberland School of Law.  He served as an attorney in several private firms from 1980 to 1999, when he was appointed to the 17th Judicial Circuit Court.  As a sitting judge, Damoorgian serves on several community boards, including the Broward County Juvenile Detention Advisory Board, the Courthouse Planning Committee and the Local Rules Committee for the 17th Judicial Circuit, among others.

Damoorgian will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Bobby W. Gunther, whose resignation date is effective December 31, 2007.

To my beloved First Lady DD --

    I will miss you.

Who will I turn to when serious issues arise in the circuit?

Who can I ask those hard questions, like when does "i" come before "e"?

Who can help me keep order in the judge's meetings so that I don't get yelled at by irate jurists?

Ummmm...these aren't rhetorical questions DD, I really need some answers....and quick.....

    Love,

    Your lesser half - VT

Broward Circuit Judge Dorian Damoorgian is moving to the 4th District Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach.

Gov. Charlie Crist announced Damoorgian's new appointment Tuesday. The 52-year-old jurist replaces retiring Judge Bobby W. Gunther, a former Broward county and circuit judge who has served on the appellate bench since 1986. Gunther's resignation is effective Dec. 31.

Damoorgian currently serves as circuit civil administrative judge in Broward. His appeals' court appointment will create an opening for a circuit judge in Broward.

Damoorgian was in private practice before Gov. Jeb Bush appointed him to the Broward bench in 1999. He is a graduate of American University in Washington, D.C., and Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.

Didn't Parkland used to be part of PB County? I mean, maybe now it would be possible to commute to WPB from Parkland, staying only on back roads? Like you really don't even have anything to do with Broward? Wouldn't that be cool?

Now that it is clear that Ana is the replacement for First Lady DD, the question has arisen, where will she and CJ Vic have their private meetings to formulate the new policies they will impose upon the rest of the judiciary.

I mean, there is no room in the courthouse whatsoever for anything.

Maybe Ana can find a spare closet somewhere for her and Vic to use.

Not much competition if you are referring to the QUALITY of applicants. You are right. No competition at all, at least not from Broward.
