Regional Conflict Counsel Back In Business

At approximately 3:00 p.m., the Florida Supreme Court overturned Judge Davey’s Order Dissolving Stay, reinstating the automatic stay of his earlier Writ Quo Warranto.  This means that F.S. 2007-62 (SB 1088) will resume being implemented and the Regional Conflict Counsel will resume operations, pending ruling on the merits of the appeal.  FACDL will now concentrate on preparing for argument on the merits.  The Court has expedited the appeal and oral argument is scheduled for February 27th.

Thought that was his rat's tail sticking out from under his pants leg the other day in court. Try as he may, he can't hide it. I suppose he could have it amputated, sort of like getting your cat declawed. If things are that bad he and Cyberblob should open their own law office doing traffic tickets for $25.00. I've heard Cyberblob's ship has gone blub, blub, gurgle, blub ... Or he can be Jack's campaign manager when he runs for Mayor of Fort Lauderdale. That ought to be rewarding. He and Ratboy are after all real campaign strategists.

1088 - what a joke. This things not going anywhere. 8:02 is entirely correct. Regional counsel has such a fight in front of them on this thing - no money, no support, too much work, no idea what they are doing. The Gov. knows this. This is simply a delay tactic, so that everyone can scramble around and figure out what to do next. It's all about saving face until a decision can be made.

I'll be eager to see all those self-ritgous posters scrambling to get back on 'the wheel' - morons.

Did someone actually post that..."This means that F.S. 2007-62 (SB 1088) will resume being implemented and the Regional Conflict Counsel will resume operations".

How can they resume operations, when they couldn't even find the space to begin?

I guess resume means they are going to start daydreaming about what it will be like to practice law one day...you know how that feels Gelin.

The State Senate will never let it die. It's be their pet peeve for a long time: Judges going off the Wheel, attorneys billing way over the cap ... And the most egregious cost offender? Shockingly, it's Broward that takes first place. It'll never be the same so stop crying over spilled milk and get on with it.

A Fast Track to poor quality representation of the poor by bureaucrats beset by insurmountable problems and destined to become bogged down by a justice system set on the idea of a hasty return to the greasing of palms and inherent campaign contributions with often better representation of the poor but by counsel beholding to judges and judges beholding to campaign contributors. What has this place become? We've seen the inequity that took place in the administration of the Wheel. Can you think of another option that won't somehow continue to spell the foreboding dissolution of a system already firmly under attack by a legislature that no longer harbors any interest concerning a semblance of relevance to the qualitative aspect of legal representation? Like quality representation for a fair fee administered fairly and open to oversight by those providing the service perhaps? While many of us sit by quietly, decisions are being made that will have a great impact on our System of Criminal Justice. We had better start making our voices heard.
