Plagiarism Accusation Roils Local Press -- UPDATED
Miami Herald staffer Wanda Demarzo broke story after story about the Broward Sheriff's Office that, along with other strong press work, helped to bring Sheriff Ken Jenne down from office and into prison.
Now a small story about a sheriff's award ceremony is threatening her hard-won reputation as a top-notch crime reporter.

So when is Help Me Howie going to schedule hiself some diversity and sensitivity trainng. He is clearly in need of some given his anti-Christian comments at the Friday office meeting last month.

I wish you'd stop the nonsense. I was present at that meeting and (finally) no such statements were made about anything even approaching the subject you broach. Get serious and realize that there are people that are trying to do the right things for the right reasons. The criticism of your intellectual and moral superiors does you no service in the end. There's plenty of inappropriate things transpiring in the courthouse without you inventing fictitious events that bare no semblance to this or any other subject other than your need to play this or that judge's minion to satisfy your need for attention. Haven't we seen enough of this seriously demented type of gamesmanship over the past couple of years?

Dear Judge Tobin:
I commend you for your push for sensitivity training for Broward judges, reportedly most recently in today’s Daily Business Review. I should like to humbly suggest that a subsequent session should be on religious tolerance. As a Christian, I have been targeted for abuse by South Florida lawyers and judges, and I know the same has been visited upon Jews, Muslims, and others. This should stop. After all, Bar Rule 4-8.4(d) addresses this very issue. It is a problem.
I write about another matter as well, if I may. I recently served a Chapter 119 Public Records request upon your counterpart, Miami-Dade Chief Judge Farina, for copies of the state loyalty oaths of Circuit Court Judge Dava Tunis. The request revealed that Tunis’ first oath was forged, and the subsequent two, including her current one, are woefully noncompliant with Florida Statute 876.05. Attorney General Butterworth issued AGO 96-41 which Opinion holds that such deviations from FS 876.05 are fatal.
We need to make sure that all Broward judges are compliant with FS 876.05,which was deemed constitutional by the US Supreme Court in Connell v. Higginbotham, 403 US 207 (1971). I look forward to receiving these oaths. Thanks so much.

It's going to take more than sensitivity training to whip these judges into line. More like every one of them drawing opposition to teach them what they're here for. It's hard to imagine that Tobin just now comes to the conclusion that maybe he should look toward the future for sensitivity training when we witnessed what happened to Judge Williams and the flack he experienced from old timers like that crony Judge Grossman and like judges. It's like too little too late for most of them. You might try shock treatment next. It has a better chance of success.
This is not nonsense. I have heard from numerous PDs that Howard did in fact make an anti-Christian remark. This needs to be aired out. If our public defender is an anti-Christian and not tolerant of the people's 1st amendment right to religious freedom, than the public is entitled to know.
It is up to those in attendance whose consciences are bothering them to come forward. The statement made by our public defender is no different than the one uttered by Judge Greene, i.e. "NHI", and should not be tolerated. Brian Reidy, who I consider a strong advocate for the indigent was punished 1 weeks pay for being insensitive. Our public defender must answer to his anti-Christian remarks.
Howard, I'm a fan, but do the right thing, come clean.

Well, I did it again. I fired another one of those Christian Republicans Anne Blanford today. Doesn't matter that she stood up to Ilona Holmes and Dale Ross and was a damn good veteran attorney. She is just too much of a damn complainer and she is not a Buddhist and she is one of the reasons that I can't pay more bonuses to my slovenly assistants for writing my scripts for my T.V. show (You have heard about my CH 7 T.V. show right?), telling me how great I am, and sending in damage control blog entries. Next week... the Christians vs. The Lions. This stuff just gets me so damn excited. I feel like Scarface with that mound of cocaine on the table. I am so intoxicated with power. Watch me strut, watch me posture, watch me pose. Tell me how great I am! Tell me! Whooooohoooooooooooo! I AM HOWARD! HEAR ME ROAR!
Tobin steadfastedly says "We don't need diversity training." Then all of a sudden, we need it? Hmmm maybe Tallahassee called? Justice Lewis on the line for Judge Tobin?

I am Howard, the office is entrusted to me by the citizens of this county. I will run it as i see fit to uphold that trust. I will help keep costs down, i will make sure that those who cant afford an attorney will be represented, I will hire and fire those that i believe will help or detract from the office.
