SENTINEL:
"BROWARD JUDGE SEEKS LENIENCY FOR 'ARROGANT, DISCOURTEOUS' BEHAVIOR":
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/broward/sfl-flbjudge0227sbfeb27,0,1604151.story

"Broward Circuit Judge Cheryl Alemán asked the Florida Supreme Court on Tuesday not to publicly reprimand her for misconduct on the bench...

In court papers filed Tuesday, the lawyers also argued that she did not violate the Code of Judicial Conduct and that she is not subject to discipline for making legal rulings...

The judge's lawyers, Dave Bogenschutz and Perry Hodges, wrote that Alemán is "a judge with a teachable spirit who earnestly wanted to make the right decision in light of a difficult constellation of facts and circumstances."

Alemán's team also argued that she should not have to pay the cost of the investigation because she prevailed on four of the five allegations made against her and that she should be reimbursed for the costs of defending herself."

Aleman is first, Pedro Dijols is next. It is amazing how many bad, incompetent judges are in Florida today! Why here more than in any other state? The link to vote for judges closed. Is it because the incompetent judges were afraid to be called by name?

The prolem is that she is currently pulling the same abusive tactics that gor her complained about and actually investigated. But she wants leiniency???

At least Ted Bundy was person enough not to beg for mercy when he finally faced the music. So Why does this serial killer of litigants rights get to cry and then do it again.

We put away sexual predators even beyond their legal sentences because of the fear they will do it again.

Why does this constitutional predator get to cry for mercy?

Wow, she seems like a troubled person.

Being a judge is a serious business.

This woman seems to have a problem.

Next election when asked to retain judge vote NO!

This judge does not seem well-equipt to handle her position.

The judicial panel needs to clean the decks and assure the public that only capable judges are in these crucial positions.

    BY HAHA:
What goes around comes around. Now the shoe is on the other foot, she don't like it!
They need to slap her down.

    BY NORTH FLORIDA GUY:
Having dealt with the Broward County Court system for years,I know her to be a self absorbed shrew consumed with self import. Hopefully the Supreme Court will protect us from this unacceptable behavior, and deny her lackey's motions.

    BY QUICK COMMENT:
Judges in great majority are arrogant and think they are above the Law.
The "trio" prosecutor, lawyer and judge are equal value but not in real life.

    BY BARRY:
How was she dispensing leniency in her courtroom? This should be a factor in determining her punishment.

    BT TAMARACJEFF:
I would show the good judge the courtesy and consideration which she bestows on others.
"Treat you neighbor as you would be treated yourself."

    BY CONFUSED:
""The conduct arose in what would have been Alemán's first death penalty case. She turned down requests from the Broward Public Defender's Office to disqualify herself during jury selection and gave the attorneys, one of whom had campaigned for her election opponent, 15 minutes to write a complicated legal argument.""
A death penalty case?????.....and 15 minute????? Jeez, we had all the time with Keith Wasserstrom, including a 5 month wait to be sentenced after he was convicted.
An then the judge gave him a slap on the wrist.
These guys on the bench must have a reality check - or as said before - we need to vote them off the bench.

    BY OUT FOR JUSTICE:
YEAH SURE, THIS JUDGE WANTS LENIENCY, WHAT ABOUT OTHERS THAT STOOD BEFORE, IT IS WHAT IT IS, SHOW NO LENIENCY. DO UNTO HER AS SHE HAS DONE UNTO OTHERS.

    BY LOOKING IN:
I agree, this would be poetic justice and room for others to be fair in dealing with people in their courtroom. The courtroom is a sanctity for our society, it is where we exercise our constitutional rights. I believe judges should actually be repremanded very severely. They have the inevitable responsibility to ensure justice for all. I am tired of some of the judges snobby, aloof and imperialist attitude. They work for us! We the people. America is still one of the best places in the world where society has an almost equal voice in court.

    BY INCOMPETENT:
Throw her off the bench. She only got the position because of political connections. As do most of our judges

    BY FAIR PLAY:
While Her Honor may have been irritated with the attorneys, she had many other options to show her displeasure that would not have impacted the defendant’s ability to receive a fair trial. Please note; his attorney was a PD (public defender) which means he did not have a lot of say in who he was assigned or how they handled his case. Her Honor could have chosen to sanction both attorneys. Instead she committed what could possibly be construed as reversible error by compromising the defendant’s right to a fair trial. And that costs all of us in the long run.

BY THE KING OF ALL POSTERS:
I say that the Florida Supreme Court should do an extensive review of all her cases, and determine how "lenient" she was at the various sentencing phases of trials. If she hasn't been lenient, then the same courtesy should (not) be granted...

    BY BARNEY:
Ah yes! Me thinks that what goes around definitely comes around! It would only be fair for this young lady to have a taste of her own medicine!

    BY MOE:
The Supreme Court should review her cases and show her the exact same leniency as she has shown to others!

She needs her judicial come uppins!

    BY DEFENSE ATTORNEY:
She was an is a really rotten judge and we all wish we could get rid of her.

    BY JEFF:
I love the title of this article..."Attorneys say judge has 'teachable spirit'". I believe the best way for her to learn that her behavior is not acceptable is to remove her from the bench, and make her pay her own legal costs. That will be something she will remember, and something she will not repeat in the future!

    BY JUST WONDERING:
    Resign.

    BY WANDERER:
I practiced in front of this judge for 4 months. She is awful. She deserves whatever she gets.

Aleman shouldn't even be a judge. This just proves it. She should most certainly have to pay the costs no matter what her "team" argues. She set a bad example for any member of the judiciary, particularly here in Broward where we need some good ones.

"... Judge Aleman is asking "for leniency" and to have the Florida Supreme Court not issue a public reprimand. Here’s hoping the court dispenses to her all the leniency she gave while a judge. Lets not forget this is the Judge who was TWICE reversed by the 4th DCA after she terminated parental rights after a parent showed up to court late, explaining that they had to take the bus. Yes, this is a woman who would take the extraordinarily severe step of ending the parent-child relationship, because a poor litigant relied on public transportation and was late.

Oh there isn’t enough leniency in the universe for her to receive what we perceive as "justice" in her case. Here’s hoping her judicial days are confined to probate, where no matter how petty and vindictive she is, at least she is only doing it to dead people... "

Ana Gardiner disputes everything, even her sexual stalking and leaving the scene. So what's do different about Aleman? she's just acting with business as usual in Broward. her protests and demands for leniency are a prime example of her lack of remorse, understanding or humility. Hey, why should that be a problem if bribing homicide witnesses is cool and a non-violation? If a former federal prosecutor perjures her bench app by denying any lawsuits against her, when there were at least 2, further aggravated as racially motivated (one of which was settled and paid by the lovely defendant judge who later jails a minority for failing to recall a prior arrest....how can Alemans lack of human compassion and humility be even remotely actionable?

Sean Conway actually DID SOMETHING in his own name and is valiantly defending himself. Gelin merely publishes anonymously to avoid scrutiny and doesn't take action like filing JQC complaints against judges like Sean did.

GO SEAN, the REAL FACE OF CHANGE IN BROWARD!!!
