Way to go Bernie. You should be congratulated on taking the plunge. Win or lose (I'm betting on a win for you), youve shown more mettle than 95% of the lawyers in this town.

My check is already on the way.

Pedro Dijols has been nothing but a second ASA since he came onto the criminal bench.

I look forward to Bernie trouncing him in the election this summer.

Everyone get used to saying the following: "Judge Bober"!!

    It just sounds so right.

Until I have to start calling him that, I'll just say GO BERNIE GO!!!

It's great to see someone running for judge that doesn't have a huge ego.

We all know that to run for any office, you have to think well enough of yourself to look in the mirror and say -- "I'm better than XXXX" or "I'm the right person to do this", but Bernie is running for the right reasons, not out of an overinflated sense of entitlement or ego.

He just thinks he is good enough to do the job better than the guy we currently have, and thinks that the job should be treated more seriously than some are treating it.

And for that alone, Bernie gets my vote.

Hey guys. With news like Bernie's official filing happening today, how about having race-specific threads on each of the contested elections so we can comment.

    We've got

    Bober v. Dijols
    Wolk v. Gonzalez

Let's get some organized stuff happening here so posts aren't being put up randomly in other threads.

Good news for Broward County. PDijols should be reminded what it's like to be an attorney again.

"What it's like to be an attorney again"???

Actually, since he can't pick up SPDs left and right, he'll have to learn FOR THE FIRST TIME what it's like to be an attorney.

    Bernie Bober for Circuit Judge!!

Well - Team Kulik has its first official candidate with Bernie Bober. Let's see if this has real legs.

When's the first fundraiser -- who is hosting -- will there be beer???

    I have an idea:

    Beer and Bober at Bennigans.

Please send me an invite for giving you the idea.

Atlast.....The one who is ethical, has integrity, and a sense of right and wrong has chosen to run against one who does not have those qualities. Treating people kindly and fairly will go a long way and I for one will be in Bernie's court. Good Luck Bernie....You'll be a terrific judge.

  • 4/2/2008 8:19 PM Fake Dijols campaign manager wrote:
OK Pedro, what you need to do is borrow $100,000 from your home equity line of credit and loan it to your campaign. At let's say 6% interest, the money will only cost you about $500 a month. When that guy Bober reads on the internet that you have $100,000 in your account, he will cave like a house of cards. He doesn't have to know that you have no intention of actually spending the money. This works every time and this time will be no different. Oh shit, Bober just filed anyway even after he found out about the $100K. I've been blogging for over a week about that $100,000 and I even filed the report as early as possible and I didn't wait until the 10th of April, like I'm entitled to do. I figured for sure Bober would be scared off. I guess he's not so stupid after all. Oh well, I'm not really good at this stuff anyway. And oh yeah, Pedro, you don't really have a prayer now that Bober is running. But don't worry, you can go back to private practice and get all those SPD cases. Oh yeah, you can't do that either. Boy, you are screwed. Maybe you need another campaign manager.

    That judge should be scared.
I've known Bernie for 20 years and never heard a bad word about the guy. Around here that's miraculous.
He argues motions and tries cases instead of spending his in court time schmoozing anybody he thinks might bag him a seat.
I have heard more bewildered, baffled and angry complaints from lawyers who feel they were hoodwinked into thinking this judge would be fair, only to find he has ascended the bench as an arrogant dolt. Black robe fever doesn't describe his malady, it's more like black robe monomania.
Bernie gets my: check, time, blood, sweat and tears of joy when he trounces this clown.
Let's get behind a real lawyer for a change.
  • 4/2/2008 10:36 PM That you Kev wrote:
Boy 825 some of your writings reming me of a story I recently heard, it went like this...

Guys family hires lawyer #1 who works up a VOP the State offers a little off the max.
Family goes to Kev K who charges them an arm and a leg but assures them he knows the new Judge in the Division named Pedro. Old friends, buddies, fellow defense lawyers, he can get the offer lowered.
Kevin shows up to court says he wants to admit the violation and Pedro gives the max. Kevin is ripped in Court by the family who keep repeating that he claimed to have an in with the Judge and how could this happen. Kevin swears he will get an opponent against Pedro.

Sound similar to the above " have heard more bewildered, baffled and angry complaints from lawyers who feel they were hoodwinked into thinking this judge would be fair, only to find he has ascended the bench as an arrogant dolt."

I guess we can assume that Bernie has assured Kev this will never happen to him.

Then again this could just all be rumor or speculation.
