State cuts threaten Broward's traffic courts
''It would be humanly impossible for the county judges to handle all these cases,'' said Ronald J. Schweighardt, a traffic magistrate judge for the past six years. ``The system will come to a halt. It's never slow here. And we only see more people every year.''

"Judges have broad discretion to set conditions of pretrial release that are designed to prevent further criminal activity," said lawyer James Green, who often represents the American Civil Liberties Union. In domestic violence cases, for example, defendants are often prohibited from making contact with their partners.

Two weeks ago in North Lauderdale, Fla., funeral services were held for Russell Shaw, a prolific blogger on technology subjects who died at 60 of a heart attack. In December, another tech blogger, Marc Orchant, died at 50 of a massive coronary. A third, Om Malik, 41, survived a heart attack in December.

I'm sure there had to be some plan out there to keep the traffic magistrates instead of Judge Tobin's hokey idea of assigning one of the county judges to do it.
I'm sure there are some qualified attorneys that would even volunteer a couple of hours a week to save the program.
No need for traffic magistrates. Just an additional drain on the State's budget. Certain county court judges seem to have more than enough time to do traffic magistrates. Time for full schedules for some of Broward's finest. All I see is a number of county court judges hanging out across the street from the courthouse after 11:00. What is going on around here anyway? Is it 9;00 to 11:00 am schedules now for county court judges? Put the slackers to work. Those days of politicking all day are over. That's for when you have competition for your seats now.
Death by Blogging? Funny, Cyberblog's still around playing out his blog addiction to his dwindling friends and heros. Pretty soon he won't have anyone to play political insider to for they won't be there anymore. I'll cry for you then Blogflogger.
