Geoffrey Cohen Gets the Assist
Today in felony Domestic Violence an unruly inmate got physical with court deputies.
Always quick on his feet and keenly aware of the positioning of his teammates
(some say it's a 6th sense), Judge Cohen dashed from the bench and applied
a perfect hold, allowing the deputies to instantly subdue the offending party.
(Cohen is now 1,962 assists shy of all-time leader Wayne Gretzky)

Nice, very nice. That's why I like Cohen. In the past a judge would have probably just pulled out his gun and shot the clock. Cohen--not afraid to give the Domestic Violence offenders a little taste of their own medicine
I understand Ty Terrell was there and assisted the Judge.
I heard this inmate was mentally ill. I hope Cohen takes this into account and doesn't start cuffing them all behind the back again because of this incident.

rough tough Geoffo storms off the bench & takes down the offender, probably after three bailiffs put him down & then held him for Judge Bonecrusher to deliver the coup de grace after yelling, "Is it safe?" Did he jump off the top of the bench to deliver a flying jaw breaker or was it a Harley Davidson rolling thunder smasher??!!!! Killer Cohen is a dangerous man, look out there's terrible doings in Domestic Violence where the men are tough and the Judge is tougher.
Don't be an idiot. The bailiff is a lady and Judge Cohen is well respected. He is not afraid to speak his mind.

It's gotta be the greatest thing that's happened to Broward. This blog is utterly hysterical. I've never received such a charge from some of the comments. I was turned onto it by a friend. Eternal thanks for laughs. It can't all be true, can it?
Cohen wasn't worried. He knew he could hold the guy for at least as long as it took for the cavalry to arrive. He had hit the little red panic button first before he dove into the trenches to go mano a mano. And not the BSO panic button either. That one can take up to 45 minutes for a response. No, Cohen wasn't fooling around. He hit the red button on his cell phone. The one that speed dials the cryptically coded "ADJ" number. Whatever may have happened in the past Cohen knew, when the chips are down, call in the man. He knew if things got bad ADJ would be there in record response time, with boot gun, robe gun, pant leg gun, underpants gun, undershirt gun, and "secret gun stashed in every courtroom just for this type of emergency" - barking out the sting of justice. Luckily, Cohen had the situation entirely under control. The Adj saw this through the little window in the courtroom door, and quietly went back to the cafeteria knowing all was again under control in the Broward courts.

maybe we can arrange a bout between judge cohen and retired judge howard broadman of california.howard made people mag for essentially the same thing.howard is a lot smaller than judge cohen,but i went to high school with him in michigan and id put my money on howard.hes also probably a few years older since 4oth reunion is this summer.
Maybe Judge Cohen should wrestle Judge Spechler. Judge Spechler was a wrestler in school. Then we could see who the best judicial wrestler is.
Oh, wait. Spechler isn't a judge anymore. He resigned in disgrace.

Hey Miami Rumpole quit posting your website on JAAblog. No one is going to look at it anyway. No one here gives a rat's behind what goes on in that cesspool known as Miami.
At least we know our judges are bad and are trying to do something about it.
Miami just let's their judges get away it with such ridiculous comments like: "Well judge klein was a great judge for 20; his kiddie rape is but a small spot on an otherwise stellar career."

Broward County judge steps in, helps pair restrain violent inmate

FORT LAUDERDALE - A county judge who hears domestic violence cases stepped in to help a pair of deputies restrain a violent inmate Tuesday, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
Circuit Judge Geoffrey Cohen placed his foot on the shoulder of David Jones, 22, of Hollywood, after Jones intentionally banged his head twice against a concrete wall then threw himself on the floor, a deputy's report said.
Cohen declined to comment.
Jones, who had knocked a telephone from its receiver in the Broward County Courthouse's holding area, collapsed when a court deputy tried to restrain him, the report said.
Jones was eventually shoved into a cell, then transported to Broward General Medical Center.
Jones began to act erratically as soon as he stepped into the courthouse around 9 a.m. and saw his ex-girlfriend there, the report said. Jones cursed at a deputy when told to calm down and would not answer questions, focusing instead on his ex-girlfriend.
Jones was in Cohen's courtroom for a domestic violence hearing. County records show he was being held in the North Broward jail on several charges, including battery and domestic assault.
Cohen ordered deputies to shackle Jones' legs when he became agitated. He was taken to a holding area where he waited 30 minutes for his hearing.
After a brief appearance in the courtroom, Jones was taken back to a holding area within the courthouse around 10 a.m. That's where he began to lash out, the report said.
Court Deputy Sharon Pyle tried to restrain Jones by placing him in a bear hug, but the man collapsed on the floor and said "that he was bipolar and not to hold him down," the report said.
It took another court deputy and the judge to finally restrain him. There were no injuries, the report said.
A Broward Sheriff's deputy talked with Jones when he calmed down. He told her that he's bipolar but doesn't take medicine.
Information on whether Jones remained in the hospital or was taken back to jail was not available.

Not only did Hammer Cohen subdue this terrible offender he made sure that he was cuffed and shackled before he brought down the heavy foot of justice on the "violent" offender's offending shoulder. Never has so little been done for the benefit of so few. No doubt the next time the offender will be drawn and quartered before our hero strikes again! Of course he's well respected! Striking blows for justice, commanding the respect of all, fighting for truth, justice, and the property appraiser's office! Clearly a legend, somewhere.
Do you not see, I told you it would evolve to this now the Judges are striking our poor downtrodden inmates. Can these clowns not see the system by which these inmates are wrongly accused because they are black and not because they committed crimes. This Defendant should be immediately be removed from the jail to The St. Regis given & 100,000.00 cash as reparations. As well Judge Cohen should resign right now and be forced to live in the minority community for the next year.
Cohen already lives in the minority community. He's rich.
