Chris Nielson (PA) is a douchebag.

He shouldn't be a judge at the County Fair for Best Pig. Oh wait, given his appearance and personality, he may actually be qualified to judge pigs.

can we have an intelligent discussion here?

Out of these 32, can we make a list of the 5 or 10 best choices and the 5 or 10 worst choices.

I know most of these people, but I have no idea who some of the others are.

Why doesn't someone put up a brief bio of each person so we can know who these people are?

It's ridiculous if people are actually going to put Chris Pole in the bottom five. He should definitely be in the list of six sent to the Governor.

I came up with five I think are highly qualified. I gave a lot of weight to judicial temperament. They are in alphabetical order:

Bill Haury, Mike Hursey, Jorge Hurtado, Jim Wells and Gerry Williams.

I would note that it is okay for the Governor to appoint his friends and those who helped his campaign, as long as they are qualified and won't embarass him. I don't think Jay Hurley is qualified and I do think he would embarass the Governor.

Jay Hurley helped the Governor get elected and has been his friend for a long time. He may not get appointed and you may not like him, but there is NO WAY that he would disappoint or embarass his brother, Charlie Crist.

Zager?! Is he serious? He better give up. Couldn't make it as a defense atty b/c of his piss-poor attitude towards people, now he thinks he can bring that nasty attitude to the bench?! Enough. Give up!

That tool - I kicked his ass so bad once (claiming the cops planted the evidence), that he refused to give up. Even wanted the jury polled.
    F-in douche.

I have never had an issue with Joseph (don't call me Joe) Zager. Was a half-way decent ASA, but flopped in private practice, and had to fall back to being an ASA again.

No way he's qualified for the bench though. Not by a freaking long shot.

    Sorry Joe -- no go.

Your top 10 may be the reasons YOUD choose to put in for judge, but I doubt you know all the people on the list or their reasons for putting in for the job.

Please praytell give us your list of people you'd want to put in for judge. Give us a list of 10 people who would do it and do it for what you deem to be the "right reasons". And then ask yourself why they choose not to put in for judge.

Unless you can give us real alternatives (good candidates who'd actually want the job but choose not to put in), you have no basis to bash everyone else.
