The state Judicial Qualifications Commission is looking into Palm Beach Circuit Judge Martin Colin’s practice of allowing attorneys who represent his girlfriend to appear in cases before him in family court.

I have also filed a complaint against Anne Alper with the Florida Bar in her role/scam as Guardian Ad Litem in my case. I am looking for others who have been victimized by Judge Renee Goldenberg and Anne Alper either working in cahoots or separately. Goldie was at least twice recently reversed by the 4th DCA and scolded in those opinions, and other attorneys with whom I have spoken have been very critical about Alper as a GAL. So it is time to speak up and out to expose the rascals and scoundrels masquerading as court officers. I found out today that someone is running against Goldenberg. Hooray!! Help me help all the future victims not be victims by ridding the public of the tyrant Goldenberg is. Now is the time to change history.
the article about Judge Colin is only the tip of the iceberg. He was under investigation for 5 months by the Broward County State Attorney office for battery, felony,child abuse as a result of a probable cause affidavit issued by the Delray Beach police dept. He committed child abuse against my son (his crime consisted in part, and only in part, of saying to my 12 year son, "You're a punk, a cry baby, a pussy like your dad" after he physically abused him the first time and before he physically abused him a second time) and incredibly was never put on leave while under investigation by the SA office for a felony. He was allowed to continue as a so-called family court judge making decisions about children while under investigation for child abuse. Say what?
He also has at least 26 speeding tickets on his record, and at one point, while a sitting judge, was driving with a suspended license. That is another whole story and indicative of his actual disregard and disdain for the law.
Read the aug 8, 2007 opinions by the 4th dca concerning BAEZ and Gordon. both about colin and not coincidently entered on the same day. Colin is a scoundrel,scofflaw, and criminal masquerading as a judge.
what is going on in his courtroom with attorneys representing his girlfriend for free (forgoing hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees, I would allege), and then having cases in front of him, is tantamount to a gift to the judge, which I believe is called corruption.
How would you like to be the opposing attorney of the attorney who drove to Broward County with the judge (perhaps the day before) so the judge could help in the Broward courtroom during the litigation of the judge's girlfriend.
That is exactly what happened here with Attorney John Schutz and Judge Martin Colin. The irony, if that is the word, is that the case was transferred to Broward County by the Supreme Court of Florida so that Judge Colin would not influence his fellow jurists in Palm Beach County. So instead Judge Colin took off work many days to travel to Broward to sit in Judge Birken's courtroom and participate in his girlfriend's (my former wife) litigation, while John Schutz acted as the straw man/attorney.
This is a scandal waiting to explode.
This is absurd. Martin Colin should be arrested for corruption and felony child abuse. WTF??? Does the law not apply to assholes like Colin?
Thank you for posting the "long story" about Jay and his plight/fight throughout the years in the 'family' court. Perhaps this story will help bring to light the needless trauma that family members suffer at the hands of attorneys,judges, and the legislators- all who either seem clueless or are in denial about the impact of their actions on human relationships. Does anyone really understand what was signed in 1971 in FL under no-fault divorce 'regime?' 150 plus years of law chucked out the window. The US and FL Constitutions are not upheld in the family ct. Why is the State in the 'business' of "kidnapping" children from their parents and breaking down marriages and families? Perhaps there is a 'bounty' on every child's head at 7 cents per dollar for every dollar of child support that is ordered? That might be one incentive to maintaining the status quo of the dysfunctional system? Perhaps the state needs to back out of all domestic relations cases and lose the incentives for family destruction. What is going on in Jay's case appears to be a case of state sanctioned intentional infliction of psychological abuse to both child and father. Perhaps the legal community who participate in these destructive practices might reflect on the mission statement of the Family Law Section written in 1958- to "preserve families" not dis-serve them". Lawmakers, attorneys, and judges who participate in the destruction of families whether through the unilateral/state sponsored forced divorce operation (unconstitutional statute-no defenses, no cause of action, no case in controversy=denial of due process) or after a marriage has ended separating children from the parents, should pray to God for forgiveness for the crimes against humanity in the Florida 'family' ct. arena.
Ray Baez was not only arrested at 10:30 at night by cops pretending to his son to be pizza delivery guys, he was arrested at gun point, treated as if he was a dangerous criminal, forced to the ground at gunpoint and handcuffed, IN FRONT OF HIS TEENAGE CHILDREN. His crime? Not paying Attorney Jonathan Root $31,000 for PROPOSED attorney fees as ordered by Judge Martin Colin. The $31,000 was part of a proposed amount of over $90,000(!) sought by Root to go on a fishing expedition to see if Baez should pay more than the $500/month child support that had already been agreed to by and with his ex-girl, the mother, and he was in fact current or ahead in paying. Neither the child or mother received any of the benefit of the $31,000, only Attorney Root. And Root, in the DBR article has the audacity to say "I can tell you he[Judge Colin] has shown no favoritism towards me." RIGHT! Only $31,000 worth of favoritism, for work that had not even been done yet! As a payback for representing his girlfriend for free a couple years ealier. I guess they thought nobody was paying attention or would notice. OOPS! Their scam is outrageous!
The excessive amount of this award by Judge Colin to the attorney who was the straw man in the prosecution of me for indirect criminal contempt[not criminal contempt as incorrectly stated in the article], where I was found guilty of asking to be an equal parent to my child, and where my conviction was overturned by the 4th DCA. The 4th DCA wrote: "There is a great difference between an 'appointed'[in quotes I would say because Attorney Root was self appointed, actually hired on behalf of his girlfriend by Judge Colin, the ghost attorney and witness all rolled into one] prosecutor who develops facts to support a finding and one who MISUSES THE APPOINTMENT FOR INJUSTICE AND OPPRESSION. The record in this case contains facts that support the latter conclusion."
the 4th DCA also wrote about the: "...disturbing conduct of the appointed prosecutor while this case was on appeal."
Root did not simply "succeed" Colin as stated in the article, he worked with and for Colin while prosecuting/persecuting/bullying me.
Colin was actively involved in every aspect of Root's actions as special prosecutor. Colin's voice was on the composite tape of phone conversations between me and my former wife, Colin's girlfriend (just in case you forgot.) "tape number 1, tape number 2, etc." was Colin's voice.
Colin was also a witness. the hearing was during the time between his election as judge in aug, 2004 and his being sworn in in jan 2005. So when Judge Jeffrey Colbath criticized Colin for "seeking to invoke the Court system to intimidate and bully Mr. Gordon", it is even more remarkable because Colin was about to be his fellow in judge in less than 2 months.
Colin immediately filed a motion with Jidge Colbath to strike that language from his order. Judge Colbath denied Colin's motion to strike the day he got it.

Sounds lie we have a lunatic ex husband, someone that won't let go, the divorce I am sure was over a long time ago, he just wants to keep it going, contol issues, probably borderline stalker, and just can't leave his EX alone, his poor son, what he must be putting him through, and all of this is based on what a sounds like very crazy man! Does this man (Jay) have a job, or did he live off of his wife. And what is your truth, that you just can't let go of your EX. Sounds like the Ex has moved on and Gordon can't stand it, sounds like therapy could possibly help him.
And filing a 100-page Motion to Recuse does nothing to dispell the notion.
There's the old adage: If you can't make your case in 25-pages or less, you likely ain't got no case to make.
I practice in Broward and have been in front of Goldenberg for years. Mr. Gordon's rendition of what happened to him and how he was treated is so typical for Goldenberg especially the "I wrote the book" comment. He left out her 100 page resume that begins with God: birth to present.
As much as she thinks she does the right thing, her ego often gets in the way. She is so self absorbed. This is probably why she drew an opponent. A piece of humble pie would do her good.
She does care about children and her focus is on them is good. That part makes dealing with her tolerable on some days, but her attitude, self righteousness, and treatment of attorney's and litigants overshadows her good intentions on most days.
I'm not sure what will come of this and feel for Mr. Gordon. I think that he can't be completely blameless but disqualification is warranted.
Alper isn't a great or even good guardian. Another strike against him.
If taken as true, Birken, in this case, is a good example of what the Broward judiciary needs to be doing. Shame on Goldenberg for exemplifying the negative, dark cloud that surrounds the Broward judiciary. Pro se litigants should be afforded a little more courtesy and this case should have been handled better.
She should know better. That's right, she does. She wrote the book on it, too. See Florida Family Law and Practice, Chapter 1, Section II, A-E. Sorry, see the entire 2 volume set with updates...

It states that Ostrow has been charged bythe criminal justice system and CONVICTED BY THE MEDIA. It says no human being has led a perfect life and everyone has done something stupid they regret. It also states that Clinton, McCain, Ostrow and to a lesser extent Obama have been in the public eye for years. Obama's albatross is the Rev. Wright, Ostrow has his recent arrest and McCain & Clinton have their own skeletons in the closet. There is so much to this story that you should really read it. What about Goldenberg's relationship with that fee expert? I think his last name is Stone. Doesn't she stay at his house when she vacations up north? She has no problem with him testifying in front of her.
replying to lunatic. this is obviously the ex and/or her boyfriend, judge Martin Colin. this has been their untrue and bogus mantra for years. sadly the truth is harder to establish than lies, which only need to be repeated over and over again to be considered. and as is often the case, what they accuse me of is actually what they are guilty of. a clever tactic the skilled attorney colin learned during his 30 years of lying in family court and ruining peoples lives. by the way, the judge who signed the Final judgment of dissolution, mostly written by colin himself while he was the boyfriend of his client, stating that after 10 years of marriage there was no marital property, was colin's former law partner. the practice of non-disclosure is not a recent ploy of colin and his budds. so colin was able to steal my jointly titled house and car for himself, since he was already living in my house, as he still is, sitting on the sofa I paid for, and sleeping in the bed I paid for, with my former wife of course. he beat me out of over $200,000 to which I was entitled. not simply for his client, but actually for himself. They can slander me all they want. they can not stand the truth and could never prevail in front of a truly impartial finder of facts, which has never happened in this case. judge birken was the closest we came, and they dq'd him just as he was about to rule in my favor.

As a mental health provider who sees "lunatic" patients, it would seem that the writer might be projecting his own uc feelings of "control" onto this father.
I wonder if the ex was having an extra-marital affair with the lawyer turned judge. If true, why does this 'mother' have full time with this young man. If she 'cheated' on the spouse, she cheated on the whole family. Where is the rational decision making with this woman? What is her psychological state of mind? All involved have a legal, moral, and ethical obligation to do their best as parents, to raise this young man who needs both mother and father. The legal system needs to do all they can do to facilitate this matter expeditiously.
Have you ever been employed, I am sure the wife paid for it, sounds like you don't have much to do. So she got lucky and you didn't. Why don't you move on and leave your EX alone, and try and make things better for your child, that is if you even have any feelings for this child. Get a job and start living. Don't act like such a jealous lunatic. Seems like you just have to much time on your hands. Put your mind to better use, I am sure your child is not being abused by your ex's boyfriend, that is what they all say, move on. And you think birken was going to rule in your favor, maybe not, they seem to be nicer to the ones they are going to rule against.
Maybe plenty of people have spent time with the father, and they may feel that this man is crazy, maybe you should offer your services to this man, check him out. The support for Ostrow is overwhelming, I spent the morning with him everywhere we went in the courthouse everybody was saying lets go Gary, GO OSTROW! As an old pro in politics I sense an upset! There is just such a negative factor for Finkelstein. People just don't like him, in spite of the tv image they have created for him. It is funny how people can just see through finkelstein and see what a miserable person he is and everybody likes Ostrow, he is truth ful, straightforward and has no hidden agendas. And the essence of the Public Defender's job his primary responsiblity is to get a good deal for his clients, and how can he get a good deal for his clients, when he has created such bad will towards the office and himself in front of the Judiciary and other agencies in the court system. It is time for a new Public Defender. One who truly helps his clients.

The second Motion to recuse is considered under a different standard where the judge does not have to take the factual allegations as true. Look at the Rules of Judicial Administration.
If this man has no visitation ordered by several judges, (it looks like 2 in Broward and perhaps one or more in Palm Beach from his Motion) there is obviously a concern about something. He should be working on his issues to get his visitation back.
I agree that the choice of Guardian Ad Litem is unfortunate. Judge Goldenberg sometimes comes off arrogant but she does try to do the right thing for the kids.
You need a more recent picture of the judge. That photo is before she lost weight. That photo doesn't look that much like her.

After reading this blog it brings me great dismay. It would not surprise me if Jay in many ways is hurt as he should be. The person who wrote this scars me more than any of the said crazy man accusations made. He should be allowed to see his son. The system critizes dead beat dads but here is one that has through demonstrated effort tried to be a part of his sons life. The true victim in all of this is his son whom for me seems to be the one being hurt the most. When will the world see this as the true problem. Leave his EX alone this is his child and who are you to determine whether he should not see his son? Mentally Ill or not from your perspective. You are not part of the solution yet instead part of the problem for your comments!
