INTERVIEWS FOR SPECHLER'S SEAT
(The following) is the list of interviewees and interview times relative to the currently vacant County Court Judicial Seat in Broward County. Comments are still being sought.
I am sending this on behalf of Ileana Almeida, Acting Chair, Seventeenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, as I have recused myself from the current proceedings.

The ethics, intellect, respectfulness, demeanor, propriety, fairness and ability of our judges is vital to the dispensation of justice in our Circuit, and input from Bar members and citizens with personal knowledge of the applicants is very important to the nomination process.

Best Candidates:
Hursey, Brenda D.,Mindy Brown. All class acts, very competent and hard working. Many people have an opinion about Brenda but as a traffic magistrate she was totally fair, always on time, always pleasant---always went beyond the call of duty. Can you say that about Avalos (slower than anyone , won't sign an order) Hursey, great judicial temperment, very bright. Mindy Brown, just a great person as well as a great lawyer.....I believe she has adopted autistic children.
Worst Choices:
Hurley (not a good guy)
Francois (I would not hire to do a traffic ticket....she would probably fail to show up)

I don't usually write in but enough is enough. I also have had the opportunity to observe Brenda in traffic court for many years. She has done an excellent job and has always been a credit to the bench. She is more than qualified for the position of County Court Judge. Many of the other candidates are also excellent.The fact that she has been unsuccessful in attaining the postion before should not be held against her; the ability to get elected or appointed should not be confused with the ability to be a good judge.

Wheres mardi dingleheimer scheidt ...... on this list? why not because everyone with any legal knowledge or intelligence knows she would be the LEAST qualified just look at her joke of a web site.. she has to use her husband in a robe's picture to get business.. and trail experience just ask anyone who tried a case against her.oops none since she always chickened out

Too bad they passed Jim Wells but I understand why. He's too qualified for a County seat. I really hope they do the right thing by him (and Broward) and make him a Circuit judge someday. He's completely apolitical so he keeps getting passed but just maybe the JNC will redeem itself someday by making a non political/non diversity pick and give a slot to a great lawyer who has earned it.

...Sorry forgot Jay Hurley - not qualified...left State Attorney's Office because was going to be fired...as a private attorney has not done anything to distinguish himself.
Everyone knows he is a friend of the Governor. Sending him out of committee will demonstrate this committee is corrupt. P.S. Why did Zaden recuse himself? Why do I get the feeling Zaden is not a guy you can trust?

Some knucklehead wrote that Mindy Brown has a drug trafficking boyfriend. Are you nuts? I mean really nuts! This lady is a former guardian ad litem, married to Chris Brown forever and is so straight and squeaky clean her shoes squeak when she walks. Comments and cracks are fine and might even be funny but this was just completely stupid, you oughta be ashamed of yourself.
Mindy is overqualified for county court and she has a wonderful judicial temperment and is a just a good soul. Anyone who knows her would be incensed about such a brainless and idiotic crack. Take it back!

Wow....Could it be more apparent that the individual attacking Mindy Brown is that Smallest Claims Judge with teh mansion in North Carolina?
I mean, just because Mindy knows the truth about the domestic violence between the Midget Cowboy and his ex-girlfriend isn't a reason to launch such nasty attacks. I mean, that kind of behavior might cause those stories to go public (again).
Tsk tsk my 4-foot friend. Maybe you should pipe down and stick to what you do best -- sending indigent hispanics to Krome.

Actually Zaden appears to be quite trustworthy since he recused himself from voting because he is related by marriage to Ed Merrigan. As we know many others around here would have sat on that fact until someone if ever brought it up.

I didn't know Zaden was related to Ed Merrigan. Ed is actually a nice guy and would probably make a good county court judge.
Zaden, on the other hand, at least at the circuit court level started out well but has turned into a disappointment by misleading and playing politics with the picks. Let me throw a name out there Ali Waldman.
