High Noon in the Courthouse cafeteria
Staff Writer Tonya Alanez, who covers courts, reports:
An argument in the courthouse cafeteria near the noon hour Wednesday between Broward public defender candidate Gary Ostrow and criminal defense attorney Russell Williams spiraled into an offer “to take it outside” before petering out.
As Williams tells it, Ostrow “lashed out” at him and called him “a backstabbing m------------.”
And the exchange was on, with both parties “mouthing off,” Williams said.
A former client’s family who says Ostrow misrepresented his qualifications when he was hired to defend their son’s death-penalty case is suing Ostrow. Williams is now co-counsel on the case.
The dispute arose over comments Williams made about Ostrow in newspaper accounts of the lawsuit.
Williams said he told Ostrow that was “some way for a public defender candidate to act” and invited him “to take it outside.”
Ostrow said he stood and said, “Let’s do it right here.”
Williams said he told Ostrow: “I don’t want your head bouncing off all these tables.”
That line is laughable, Ostrow said, and he didn’t hear it.
“All I heard was his offer to take it outside,” Ostrow said.
A couple of attorneys pulled him back into his seat, Williams walked out, “and that was the end of it,” Ostrow said.
Williams conceded in an interview Wednesday that his “feathers were a little ruffled” after leaving a “really heated” deposition and he acted as unprofessionally as Ostrow did.
No such conciliation from Ostrow. He said he’s “a passionate guy” who expresses himself and doesn’t stuff his feelings, especially when he’s being undermined by somebody who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
“I’m the kind of guy who doesn’t take any s--- from anybody,” Ostrow said. “I’m not afraid to speak my mind.”

I find the use of the children's picture offensive. The comparison is inappropriate and demeaning. Comparing children to obnoxious, self serving bottom feeding lawyers is unfair to kids everywhere.

At least it didn't turn into an Al Milian-esque slugfest. Although Al has a much better chance of winning an election than Gary "Sniff Sniff" Ostrow.
By the way, Judge O'Connor asked whether Ostrow was wearing a shirt....can anyone answer?

Now, when you put in that web address, you just get a blog with dick and coke jokes about lawyers and politicians.....
What is JAAB, Inc., a Florida not-for-profit corporation at this point?
Does it still exist?
Will it ever file its long-overdue annual report showing who its officers and directors are?
Why is long-deposed Craig Eskimonazi still showing as JAAB, Inc.'s president?
And who are the shareholders of this not-for-profit corporation?
And why do Bill G. and Jeff I. get to park in the Public Defender's Office Parking Area?
heck if norman kent also know as norma can fight in a ring why not these two guys, but why waste the action in the cafeteria, lets arrange it for bo hitchcocks lot and sell tickets, some money can be made and , im sure, a percentage given to this great and colourful blog...... ill even get milian to be the impartial judge,..

Ostrow is a psycho but Russell is much more active and in much better shape. I would give this to Russell unless Ostrow was on coke something else. PS for those of you who don't know these two, Williams may annoy some people, but he is in general a pretty friendly guy who liked by most that know him. Ostrow is in general not a friendly guy. I would say fault for this lies with Ostrow.
Another anonymous comment....man without a face or identity for that matter. What happened was unprofessional on both ends and I was wrong to even acknowledge Williams...but know this....the sun-sentinel, Tanya Alvarez proganda machine is alive and well. For those of you who may not have caught on, the sole reason for posting this non-story, initially on the state run sentinel's political blog last nite was, again, to continue their unethical, third world politic campaigning by casting me in a light that appears to distinquish my unacceptable behavior from Williams. Unlike me, he's obviously above it because 'he had a bad depo?? How would you describe my last 2 weeks? Picnic? Dont tell anybody but Tanya'a shameless editor thought it was a great opportunity to campaign for their political choice by somehow distinquishing my behavior from Williams. Like Russel said, is that any way for a candidate for P.D. to behave? NO...CERTAINLY NOT!! But Williams had a tough depo!! Nice objective, ethical reporting....the sham-sentinel are the most shameful in this fight!

I hear Ana Gardiner has volunteered to "bench" the Nova Moot Court Team (and bench them HARD, from what I hear).
Apparently she's been advised by her attorney that these folks are "safe" because they don't practice in front of her yet.
What a joke, "you hit me first" "no, you swing first" what a couple of manginas, twas a great sight. Not to mention Arreaza standing at the coffee bar stirring his fresh brew, watching the tennis match of two cafeteria cowboys!

Yes, Gary everybody is out to destroy you and you just keep giving them more ammunition. If you never approached Williams in the cafeteria, I guess there would be no news for the Sun-sentinel. I wonder who called them?? Bad publicity is better than no publicity right??
I'll bet Russell had his feathers ruffled as well as probably wetting his pants over the ordeal. Russell always lets his big mouth get him into trouble, especially when it involves being quoted in the newspaper. Punk! Bet you he started crying when it was all over.
What a couple of weeneys! Russ wanted to take it outside so he could talk Ostrow down. Williams would never take that guy on. I agree, he'd whine about it to the paper first. We've all seen it before with Russ, but this looks like a real comeback stratagy for Ostrow.
I think the article more accurately should read as Williams ran from the cafe.
