119 Public Records Request

Bringing sunshine in proves too costly

"A Fernandina Beach lawyer can have the e-mails he suspects would reveal illegal campaigning in the contentious state attorney race.

But to get them, he'll either have to pay the six-figure price tag of his open records request or narrow down that request.

Wesley White sought evidence that Assistant State Attorney Jay Plotkin and State Attorney Harry Shorstein campaigned or sought contributions from their posts in the Duval County Courthouse. Plotkin is a candidate for state attorney and the current No. 2 man in that office. Shorstein is his retiring boss and key supporter."

Just read on the sun-sentinel blog that Alex's similar request is only going to cost 1/3 of that of the attorney in Jacksonville. Howard you are not charging enough!

The public defender's office goes into their defensive mode, finkelstein has an assignment for his supervisors to protect and defend each and every wrongdoing by finkelstein, they put up a wall around him, to fend off all fair inquiries. It is amazing how the sun sentinel also participates in this facade, they feel, the sun sentinel by placing some of this news on their blog that they are giving it some newsworthy position, but it is really a half hearted attempt for anyone else it would be front page of the local section, they are as phony as a 3 dollar bill. They refuse to put this in their newspaper again where is their integrity, it is something that they are actively participating in such a strange venture.
