Mob informant claims corruption in court system in wake of divorce
"The self-proclaimed adopted son of the late mob boss John Gotti, Kasman didn't like the way the Gambino crime family treated him after the Dapper Don died in prison in 2002. So the 51-year-old Boca Raton man strapped on an FBI wire and spilled information that in February helped the feds build criminal cases against 62 reputed New York mobsters.
Now Kasman has his sights set on a much less notorious target: Palm Beach County Family Court Judge Martin Colin.
Using court decisions that grew out of a long-running legal battle among Colin and his wife and her ex-husband, Kasman is on a tear to have the judge thrown out of office and get longtime Democratic power broker and attorney Henry Handler disbarred...
When the Judicial Qualifications Commission, which disciplines judges, meets in mid-July, it will consider claims from Kasman and at least two other men that the judge dished out favors to attorneys who represented his wife in her divorce. Similar allegations have been raised in a strange and tortuous legal battle that went all the way to the Florida Supreme Court. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has investigated as well.
Colin and attorneys embroiled in the quagmire dismiss allegations that a conspiracy was afoot to tip the scales of justice against Kasman or anyone else.
They point out that at the root of Kasman's claims is Jay Gordon, a seriously disgruntled ex-husband. The 64-year-old Delray Beach man has devoted roughly seven years of his life to largely unsuccessful litigation aimed at proving that not only is Colin corrupt but so is the entire Palm Beach County judicial system...
Even judges who have heard the cases have questioned Colin's actions.
Shortly before Colin took the bench, Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Jeffrey Colbath censured his soon-to-be colleague, writing: "It appears that Mr. Colin is seeking to invoke the Court system to intimidate and bully Mr. Gordon. Mr. Colin may have lost his objectivity and is not problem-solving, but is exacerbating the post-judgment conflicts between these parties."
Colin asked Colbath to retract the statement. Colbath refused...
Colin said he has made all necessary disclosures and few have asked that he step down. Yet when Circuit Judge Amy Smith recused herself from Kasman's case last week, she expressed frustration at the number of cases she was inheriting from Colin..."

So it says on your official stationary.
Dear State Attorney Krischer,
I am writing to report crimes being committed by Fifteen Judicial Circuit Judge Martin H. Colin, and to urge you to investigate and prosecute Judge Colin for those crimes.
Judge Colin and his wife, Betsy Savitt, are violating Florida Statute 787.03, Interference of Custody.
“Any parent of the minor who has custody thereof and who takes, detains, conceals, or entices away that minor with malicious intent to deprive another person of his right to custody of the minor commits a felony of the third degree.”
That describes exactly the crime being committed by Judge Colin and his wife in preventing me from seeing my son.
Now that Judge Martin Colin has married his long-time girlfriend, Betsy Savitt, there is no pretending that he is not complicit in, if not instigating and directing, the contemptuous violation of existing court orders by preventing me from exercising my natural and legal right to parent my son.
Specifically, the orders are the Final Judgment of Dissolution (FJ), dated May 15, 2002, which ordered shared parental responsibility, and the Visitation Schedule, dated July 22, 2002 which ordered I have 5 out of 14 days of visitation during the school year, with all holidays shared equally. Colin wrote the section of the FJ ordering shared parental responsibility while he was the lawyer for his girlfriend Savitt, which leads to the incredible and laughable-if-it-were-not-so-serious situation of family court Judge Martin Colin disobeying the very order he himself wrote as a lawyer. I can only wonder what Judge Colin would do to punish a parent appearing before him guilty of so blatantly, and with such purposeful meanness, violating well established and long adhered to orders.
I have not had a single visitation day with my son since September 24, 2007. I have been deprived of over 100 court ordered visitation days, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Holiday time, Rosh Hashanah, Passover, and perhaps most cruelly, Father’s Day last week.
My son has gone from being a boy of 14 to a young man of 15, has grown more than 6 inches, and has changed in all the ways that one might or might not expect of a teenager. All the while being deprived of the love and guidance of a father, a father who was completely involved in every part of his life for his first 15 years. A father who lives 5 minutes away.

Judge Martin Colin has in every way participated in this criminal violation of the court orders and Florida Statutes. To quote the last paragraph of the page attached to the notice of hearing in my case: “Parents who fail to do everything in their power to create in the mind of the child a loving, caring feeling toward the other parent are subject to the severest penalties, including contempt, imprisonment, loss of residential custody, or any combination of the above.”
The other crimes Judge Colin is guilty of are corruption and honest services fraud. Florida v. Castillo, SC03-282, which prohibits public officials from seeking or accepting unauthorized benefits in return for performance or nonperformance of official duties, also applies. Judge Colin was sworn in as a judge in January, 2005.
Four different attorneys, John Schutz, Jonathan Root, Henry Handler, and Christopher Jette, have represented Judge Colin’s girlfriend/wife, Betsy Savitt, at various times during the last four years. To the best of my knowledge, Judge Colin’s wife has not paid Root, Handler, or Jette any money for their legal representation. John Schutz, who began representing Savitt in February, 2006, and continues to represent her as of today, if he is being paid at all, has received payment from the judge’s wife of maybe 10-15% of what he would normally bill. I estimate his bill exceeds $100,000. Savitt has testified under oath that she doesn’t know how much she has paid him, but $15,000 sounds possible.
THE JUDICIAL CODE OF CONDUCT (JCC)
CANON 5 D. Financial Activities.
(5) A judge shall not accept, and shall urge members of the judge's family residing in the judge's household not to accept, a gift, bequest, favor or loan from anyone.
If the judge’s wife is not paying for her legal representation, or getting it at a 90% discount, how can that not be construed as a gift to the judge’s wife. If she gets something for free that everyone else has to pay for, how is what she gets for free not a gift. And we are not talking about a bottle of Champaign here. The amount of free, or greatly discounted, legal services is in excess of $100,000.
The crime is further exacerbated by the fact that Schutz, Root, Handler, and Jette had, and continue to have, cases in Judge Colin’s courtroom, both when he was in the main courthouse in West Palm Beach, and now that he has rotated to the South County Courthouse, as of Feb. 2008. It is not possible to ignore the obvious quid pro quo appearance of these lawyers expecting a favor from the judge –the husband- in return for their representation of their non-paying client- the wife.
To add another layer to the crime of Judge Colin, the judge himself has been participating in his wife’s litigation, which has been transferred to Broward County by order of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Florida, presumably to make sure Judge Colin would not be able to influence his fellow judges. However, Judge Colin has been traveling to the Broward County Courthouse to attend every hearing since 2006. That would be about 10 hearings. And he sits in the hearing room, and is addressed by the Broward judge as “Judge Colin”.
During the hearings he signals Attorney Schutz, speaks with Schutz’s assistant, and Schutz actually gets up during the hearing, walks around the table and confers with Judge Colin. The point is that Judge Colin is actively involved in his wife’s litigation on Tuesday, then on Wednesday, the attorney with whom he is acting as co-counsel, John Schutz, appears in his courtroom without bothering to disclose to the other side that they, the attorney, John Schutz, and the judge, Martin Colin, are in effect partners in representing the judge’s wife. Not partners a few years ago, but at this very moment.
And to top it off, Attorney Schutz has given, and continues to give, a substantial monetary gift to the judge’s wife, that is free legal representation. Please do a survey and ask how many litigants in family court, especially ones with a financial affidavit like the one Savitt filed in January, 2007, showing net assets of $1,000,000, get free legal representation.

The senator from Alaska is under federal investigation for corruption because a business who may have benefited from legislation he helped pass remodeled his house for free. Please explain the difference of a free house remodel worth a couple hundred thousand dollars and free legal services worth a couple hundred thousand dollars. I would say they are essentially the same.
For all the above reasons, the Palm Beach State Attorneys office should immediately open an investigation of Judge Martin Colin and the attorneys, Schutz, Root, Handler, and Jette, who are conspiring to defraud the public. In this instance the public is specifically the parties in Judge Colin’s courtroom opposing the gang of 4 lawyers representing Judge Colin’s wife.

I believe John Grisham, well known author who specializes in legal affairs, and who is an attorney himself by trade, would have a field day with this! He tried his hand in his first piece of non-fiction with The Innocent Man and it was a huge success. Jay Gordon has the fuel and story for another Grisham best seller, no doubt about it! Jay's story must be told to the general public in order to show the injustice, corruption, and improprieties that occur in Family Court and how a judge, a man supposedly in an esteemed position, uses his power to place himself above the law. A loving, intelligent, and simple man's life has been taken away from him and has been destroyed by a man who has abused his power for his own personal gain. Not only has Mr. Gordon's life been destroyed and made penniless, but what about the life of the most important and precious thing in his world, his only child, his son! Jay Gordon should get his son and his life back. The Court owes Mr. Gordon something that we all aspire to: A Quality of Life!

Crist, Chief Judges Kroll & Justice Lewis Fl Supreme Court to take immediate steps to remove Judge Colin and in the interim rotate him OUT of family court. LEWIS KASMANS ISSUES WITH Judge Colin from reading all tht attached are very different than Gordons. Totally Different. The only similarites they have in common is Judge Martin Colin. Period... Kasmans legal issues dwarf Gordon's, although Gordon has many issues with Martin Colin. Gordon, Baez & Kasman have all been abused and crimes committed against them by Martin Colin. YES THEY HAVE.

So sorry to disappoint the psychos' who have falsely rumored Judge Colin's demise, and his transfer to probate court. The bad news for you is Judge Colin is remaining in family court indefinitely and for as long as he wants. No amount of distorted press is going to influence Chief Judge Kroll to rotate one of her strongest and most respected family court judges. Like everyone knows except for Gordon and his psycho colleagues, Judge Colin is extremely hard working, very bright and cares about the law and justice. Family lawyers, courtroom clerks and bailiffs comment all day long on the high degree of competence and dedication that Judge Colin exhibits.
No amount of false and baseless accusations by Gordon will ever get State Attorney Barry Krisher to investigate Judge Colin or his wife's lawyers, because they have committed no crimes, of course.

The Feds laugh and love when Gordon and Kasman, who has been convicted of perjury, write that Root, Schutz, Handler and Colin are being investigated by them. Call the local case agents who have cleared them long ago. The "feds" do however have their eye on one particular ball; false accusations of a federal crime is a federal offense. Targets are Gordon and Kasman. The evidence is plentiful. Just waiting the grand jury to convene. Are you sweating a little boys!!!!

Explaining his work history to the judge, Gordon said, “I’ve never worked. As a younger man, I owned four vegetarian restaurants. I’ve never had a job where I have worked for somebody else. I always, for the last 17 years or so, I managed my family’s money. First my mother and my own and my wife’s. I was always able to earn enough money doing that . . . . [S]ince the separation more than two years ago, I’ve tried trading in the market. The market has been bad. Between attorney’s fees, living expenses, child support, and bad stock market, my assets have dwindled to zero."
How do you know so much about Gordon? Did you know that he is also a child abuser and that his son hates him and will not see him. What a loser he is and as Jack states, he is becoming schitzo as well.

Judge Kroll will NOT protect you any further. Its time to go.. We need Judges like Charles Burton and others, respected and intelligent. There are many dedicated fine jurists, where did Colin come from?? Handler's office. You think? The disgrace Colin has caused the 15th Judicial district will take years to repair.. No, we all know it is all the same person, either Gordon or Kasman. Amazing they think we don't know its them or that anyone pays attention to them. They both need a lot of help. If there is a real Larry Belinsky, and you are friends with Gordon, and you may be his only friend, you can do some good by getting him mental health care to deal with his raging, and therapy for his child abuse of his son. Yes, Larry, it is confirmed in the official guardian report as well as police and DCF reports that Gordon physically and mentally abused his son so badly that this child will not, on his own accord, see his father. If not for such significant abuse, do you think anyone could stop this almost 16 year young man who is mobile and has friends who drive from visiting with Gordon, if he was not afraid to do so. This should not come as a surprise to you. Gordon abused Betsy when she was his wife, and she had to get a lifetime restraining order to protect her. Now he has turned his anger to his son. So sad that he will not get help when that is probably the only thing that will ever convince the child that it may be safe to see Gordon again. Let us see what type of friend you really are.
Finally Judge Kroll is taking action against Colin. Judge Kroll is moving Colin to Probate. Sooner the better. Time to restore integrity back to the Family Court in Palm Beach County. Keep the monitors in Colin's courtroom until he is moved out to probate... Watch for Handler, Root & Schutz. They are all conflicted in appearing in Colin's circus.
To Barrister aka Gordon or Kasman: Does Judge Kroll or Judge Colin know that Judge Colin is moving to Probate? Does the existing probate judge know he is rotating out to make room for Judge Colin. I guess the answer is that somehow you have become the chief judge since you are the only one that knows of these moves. Or, as we suspect, you are being a bad boy again and lying again, which given your perjury conviction, is not surprising. Have a happy 4th to all.
