I heard BACDL is coming into its own. The war chest idea has been around forever. Everyone chips in and raises the filing fee. That way the really bad judges get opponents. They may not beat the incumbent but the Dijols effect will be guaranteed. When they have to work to keep their jobs they become good judges. It's uncanny.
If all BACDL can raise is enough to get a warm body a $6,000.00 filing fee, we're in worse shape than I could have ever imagined.
Instead of having BACDL fund filing fees for a couple of candidates, how about they pick one race they really want to be involved in and get their membership behind that one person. There are members of BACDL who can't give $500.00 to 5 or 10 people, but can only pony up $500 or $1,000 (if you give individually and through your PA).
Maybe that way you can actually put $20k or $25k behind one person against one bad judge, instead of putting up dead losers against 2 or 3.
The only problem with the "war chest" theory is that the BACDL's history shows they can't get UNIFIED AGAINST ANYONE OR ANYTHING.
No matter how much was raised for one candidate running against a sitting judge, you would have the BACDL membership still giving in equal if not greater amounts to the incumbent the "war chest candidate" is running against.
How many BACDL members have donated to Bernie Bober's campaign vs. donating to Pedro Dijols?
For all the lawyers who complain and piss and moan about a particular judge -- in the end, like an abused child, they will run back and do whatever they can to get their abuser's love.
Sorry, no war chest for BACDL -- all their money has been spent donating to the incumbents they claim to want defeated.
Goldenberg is such a hypocrite. Too bad she doesn't practice what she preaches.
The problem is BACDL is controlled by Satzists. The former prosecutors who now defend for money - simple mercenaries. They like and agree with Satz's kill 'em all philosophy - in fact, they know its good for business, karma be dmaned. They won't buck him or the incumbent judges who support Satz to the hilt. An example - why did it take the JQC to rid us of Aleman? Where was BACDL besides running her campaign? Quit dreaming about a war chest - not gonna happen.
At least we have a few choices.

"Shaq" Dangi is in deep doodo with the Florida Elections Commission and State Law Enforcement authorities over some alleged bounced checks, alleged mortgage fraud issues, and recent allegations regarding a $500.00 payment purportedly made to Plantation Democratic Club President, Bill Kling. Bill is a political/military veteran who allegedly received a payment from a Dangi surrogate as an "alleged payoff" for his club"s support. Simply review the recent "New Times article at www.browardnewtimes.com.
Mr. Udolf, who worked as a Special Prosecutor for Rep. Kenneth Starr (allegedly was involved with the dna/dress issue and was asked to leave Starr's employ because of philosophical differences, ie...he was depressed) has been also under fire for keeping an innocent man in jail for a long period of time resulting in a large settlement for false arrest/detention - Udolf denies the allegations.
The Barbara Miller (she managed Ron Cochran's campaign) Lemak machine lacks the punch necessary to win in August or November 2008. He is currently employed as a numbers cruncher/city manager with the City of Hollywood. He spent a short time as Deputy Police Chief of the Hollywood police Department.
Wiley Thompson claims to be an FBI/G-Man leader with loads of experience, however, he admitted Jenne fired him during an interview with the Sun-Sentinel but now has changed his tune to include the phrase:"my position was illuminated after Ken Jenne resigned from office" The Ghost believes Mr. Thompson was hired by Jenne to help cover Jenne"s political tracks during the pending FBI/Federal Investigation against the former sheriff. Who knows? However, Wiley Thompson"s Tennessee Bankruptcy is all there to see in black and white. Just go to the Tennessee Federal Bankruptcy Court computer system to get a look see for yourself.
Scott Israel has the most experience and is the only candidate currently employed as a police officer. (Police Chief of North Bay Village) Scott has extensive law enforcement training/background. He retired from the Fort Lauderdale Police Dept. as a Captain. (SWAT, Canine, Drug Unit Community Policing) He has approximately 10 IA Reports which were all unfounded/not sustained. Scott has raised the most money and his name speaks for itself. Oy!!!

Hey Jack, even if the Thai government and police force are not lying through their teeth...I remember you telling me on that radio broadcast that one person claimed not to be affected by video games would be an insignificant statistic. Well, you didn't think he was going to be talking about his platform for the PD's Office or what Ross' proposed plans are for a new PD's Office, or the reason Areazza has no signs out there, or why Areazza is no longer campaigning? The lawsuits concerning finkelstein have merit. It is just at this point the agencies in broward county have interpreted them to be politically motivated, it is a gutless position, but it gives the local elected officials cover in their own rationalization for their own inactivity. Arezza good luck
Meritless, groundless and politically motivated is indeed the substance of any suit that would be brought by Areazza. We've all seen this type of crap before. It's what he's been put up to do. Face it.
So other than case updates (what do you think this place is, educational????), Crazy Arreaza Hate Howard Posts, and 9 billion Thompson-related items, what's up with the blog?
There's judicial races to comment on and arguably the most powerful elected official in Broward is going to be selected soon -- nothing here about that stuff.

Interesting how you gutless worms criticize Arreaza for filing a lawsuit against Finkelstein and no one has bothered to read it. I did, this afternoon. Not only dose it have merit, but it may show theft of public funds and corruption in private attorney assignments. You guys need to read up on things to make an informed comment you know otherwise you sound like blithering idiots.
I read the lawsuit against Howard and looks like Arreaza covered his bases pretty good. I think he may have a viable argument.
I can hear it now. Mr. Finkelstein, would you please explain to the court how a $90 per hour charge can add up to $101,000 in fees for a simple public records request regarding the help me howard ballerina show?
