12 billion (that is 1,000 million dollars times 12) a month in Iraq, the dollar is worth nothing, health care is a disgrace, thousands of U.S, troops are not "counted" as wounded because "they were not in direct combat", thousands of U.S, troops maimed, over one million Iraqi civilians killed, and the biggest deficit in the history of America - oh wait the Bush White House is claiming as a percentage of GNP we are doing better than the Reagan Administration. (deficits from 1980 to 1988) This is the same Reagan Administration that, rightfully so, worked with the Graham/Rudman crew to work towards balancing the budget. Back then the plan was to "starve the beast" and make the deficit spending so high (cut taxes and increase military spending) so those evil social programs could be cut.
It was the fringe right wingers (ie..neocons) who scared us into thinking Iraq (ie..Saddam) could hit the northeast U.S. corridor with a missile, and therefore it was our duty to invade Iraq to stop big bad Saddam from using these so called weapons of mass destruction against us because after all, Saddam (being Muslim) was in bed with Osama (even though the latter was a religious zealot and the former Bathist hated any religious zealots - including Osama). (U.S. Senator Bob Graham actually read the prewar report and voted "no" - Hillary voted yes and therefore ruined her chances to live in the Whitehouse. Barak was only a candidate for the U.S. Senate even though his campaign would leave you to believe otherwise)
Get real. Unfortunately, your views and posts will probably help the right maintain control of the executive branch of government just in time to ruin our country. I'm with you Ghost. More has been done to ruin this country and erode the rights of individuals in the Bush's past two terms as president than anything negatively affecting America in recent history.
Unfortunately we have those that believe we as Americans can't or shouldn't be allowed to think for ourselves anymore.
It's like in a smaller microcosm what we have here in Broward County with the political power brokers trying to run everything behind closed doors including our judiciary which should remain above such manipulation and corruption, but as we have seen, it remains the most susceptible to its influence.

u don't have to agree with the war but to say we are killing innocent people tells me u know nothing of war. millions were being slaughtered there before we went in. we have gone through great pain to avoid the non combatants. that is not easy. u don't have to agree with being there but i will tell u they are better off now that we are giving them a chance. if we would have did what the dems wanted and just pull out, it would have been like Vietnam and millions would have been slaughtered. personally i think bush is a jerk but then the whole system rep and dem are pretty sick.basically
