"Exactly how many cases Colin has dropped since the letter seems to be a closely guarded secret. Colin’s office and the offices of Chief Circuit Judge Kathleen Kroll and the clerk of court could not provide a number.
Richardson said Colin has recused himself from a handful of cases, but attorneys who practice in Colin’s courtroom said they believe the number is in the dozens.
The conflict stems from Colin’s private practice before he became a judge in 2004. He represented Betsy Savitt in her divorce from Delray Beach resident Jay Gordon. He later dated and married Savitt.
Palm Beach Circuit Judge Jeffrey Colbath, who oversaw the contentious proceedings, said in an order Colin sought “to invoke the court system to intimidate and bully Mr. Gordon.”
It was a role he refused to relinquish once he took the bench, attending hearings as a spectator, Gordon said."

judge colin and the gang of 4 have violated the most basic and fundamental principal of the american justice system. that is an impartial judiciary.
how can a litigant, or the public for that matter, have any hope of a fair hearing when the judge, the supposedly impartial finder of fact, is connected to one of the parties in a secret way?

Colin and his "buddies" the Boca Mafia, Henry Handler & John Schutz should be charged and jailed... They are criminals and lowlifes. Palm Beach County should rid themselves of these rodents....

It looks like Psycho Jay Gordon is back. Did he get released from a mental hospital? There he goes again trying to solicit someone, anyone who will agree with his psycho views. Perhaps the reason no one comes forward to support Gordon after all these years of complaining is HE IS A PYSCHO. I understand that all law enforcement and judicial agencies have not only turned Gordon down, they will not even process his claims anymore.
By the way, has anyone found out whether Gordon has gotten a job or paid child support for his son. Isn't persistent non payment of child support a crime. what kind of father would not pay support. I guess the previous blogs that reported that Gordon abused his son so badly that the son would not see him for almost a year are true. What Gordon has put his son through is criminal. Let us hope that his ex wife Savitt and her lawyers continue with their success against Gordon and keep him away from civilized people.
Has anyone read the Review article. It states that Judge Colin has complied with disclosue requirements and that his method is "over the top" in thoroughness. But most important is that most parties appear to waive the conflict, meaning they want Judge Colin to remain as the judge on their case. Just read what attorney Schutz says. That Judge Colin must be one outstanding judge. No wonder he is held in such high esteem by his fellow judges and the legal community. Did I not read online that Judge Colin was invited to lecture family lawyers on ethics. I wish he had been my divorce judge.
I don't know what the story is here. According to the same reporter, Pacenti, for the Review who wrote about this stuff on May 16 he stated: "Root, Schutz and Handler still practice in front of Colin and have disclosed their relationship since the 4DCA decision (Baez)was issued last Aug. 8." This new article from Pacenti confirms that disclosure continues. If Pacenti is right, it sounds that Judge Colin and his wife's lawyers are doing the right thing. Thank you reporter Pacenti for showing us why "Jay's" complaints are "psycho"

To comment any further about Judge Colin and his ethical conflicts and violations is sickening at best. It is obvious that Colin has violated his judicial cannon of ethics. As a practicing attorney Colin had none of them at that time. As his wife lay sick with cancer he was having a torid affair with his client now wife Savitt. While crying to his friends how much he will miss his now deceased wife. Even a fraud then. PB POST & DBR should be commended for recent news articles esposing the flagrant arrogant Court House corruption led by Judge Martin Colin. His friends that are recepients and benefit from his corruption are Henry Handler, Carol Kartagener, Jon Root, John Schutz & Chris Jette as indicated in Colin's very own self serving letter dated May 16, 2008. You should both hang your head in shame and disgust for your actions and comments! Colin is a disgrace to all the good and FAIR and HONEST Judges that sit on the 15th Judicial. Hard to believe no story about Emmanuel Simon's disbarment. I would imagine if he was an ASA this story would have been reported. Who picks and chooses? Instead we get stories about a palm beach judge.
lets get the time line straight. the baez decision ordering judge colin to recuse himself was entered by the 4th dca on aug 8, 2007. john pacenti wrote the article in this paper on may 14, 2008, exposing the UNDISCLOSED conflicts between judge colin and the gang of 4.
2(!!!) TWO !!! DAYS after the DBR article, and 9 !! NINE MONTHS after the BAEZ order, on May 16, 2008 Judge Colin wrote his letter to his buddies. Hello. How could it be more obvious that this is a feeble, lame, and unsuccessful effort to to put a finger in the dike that is about to burst.
and in this article attorney john schutz, a crook in his own right, not surprising as colin was his mentor as a lawyer, has the audacity and stupity to say "I think the letter was made to provide the other side with notification AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. (My caps) 9 months is as soon as possible?? what else is wrong with that statement? "provide the other side"?? the letter was not written to the other side. there is the huge gap and question of was the other side ever actually warned. it is too bad the gang of 4 has not been required to prove that they did notify and how they did that, and to provide the names of the opposing attorneys they supposedly notified. there are still lots of unanswered questions, including proof or lack thereof if the judge's wife paid any of the gang of 4. gee the judge's wife's unpaid lawyers having hearings in the judge's courtroom without the other side knowing about the scam. isnt that called quid pro quo and corruption?
finally, the leeter is complete nonsense. after the baez decison, or even before it, but certainly after the 4th dca had to remind judge colin of his basic obligation as a judge to disclose these blatant conflicts, the first thing the judge should have done when any of the gang of 4 or their associates entered his courtrrom was to call both attorneys to the bench and tell the other side what the hell was going on with his girlfriend/wife and her attorneys.
Stop whining. Incumbents are dead. Run this Colin awipe out of town in the next election. He's cooked.
This is a Gordon blog. No surprise. He has admitted to being a psycho. And a child abuser. And he does not pay child support. And he is a spouse abuser. And he has been declared to behave uncivil in court. And he has lost all his litigation in court. Is there anyone who wants to align themselves with Gordon?
Gordon is not a child abuser, Colin is, read the Delray PD report. Colin used the Courts for his gain and to hurt Jay Gordon. Colin is corrupt and should be removed from the bench.
Gordon must really be crazy. Since Judge Colin is obviously not presiding over any case of Gordon's, the judge could not be using the "bench" against Gordon. No wonder Gordon's nickname is "psycho".
Here is the only truth anyone needs to know. Who continues to write on this Broward County blog. It is Jay Gordon from Palm Beach County. Who is he? The ex spouse of Judge Colin's wife who divorced him in 2002. He has never appeared before Judge Colin in all the years Colin has been a judge. Who is Gordon? Just ask anyone or look him up. A convicted spouse abuser, a child abuser, he does not work, he does not pay child support, he performs no beneficial public service and complains daily about the the low quality of his life. His son thinks he is a nut and refused to see him for the last 10 months. He blames his ex wife for this-how psycho. He is an horrible person who spends all his time trying to knock down good hard working people like Judge Colin and his wife.
So that is the truth about this blog. Don't you know-everybody is corrupt and wrong but...you guessed it Jay Gordon. Case Closed.

Yes I am a real Broward attorney. I may be missing something but I don't understand the story here. Judge Colin's wife had some lawyers who previously represented her in litigation with her former husband. Those same lawyers currently appear before Judge Colin in family court. But nothing about that involves the ex husband who appears to be making the most noise. So why does he not give it a rest. Next, and maybe everyone should take the time as I did to read the full story, the previous Review article written by reporter Pacenti ( who certainly seems to have a grudge against Judge Colin-something his editor should look into), states that these lawyers, Root Handler and Schutz have disclosed that they have represented Judge Colin's wife to the opposing side and that has taken place since August 07. That sounds all proper to me. I never read that any opposing lawyer has a gripe about the disclosure; only the ex husband and maybe one other person, Kasman constantly complains. The new Review article states that disclosure continues and the lawyer interviewed, Schutz, says that he has been doing it all along and it works. So what is the issue here, folks. Even if in one or two cases disclosure did not take place right away, there are proper, normal remedies for this thru legal channels. I read of corruption, and breach of ethics etc. on this blog, but see nothing of the sort. Nowhere is it written that any police agencies or the Bar or the JQC has found any wrongdoing. So maybe we are faced with an unfortunate situation of a few, apparently Gordon and Kasman, who just want to complain, allege conspiracies and continue to write against a justice system that works well. My point; they are the threat and the danger here. I don't think there is much doubt about that. Maybe that is a story reporter Pacenti should be writing about.

To Broward attorney: Hard to believe you don't understand the matter here. Colin has -- in at least two cases -- not disclosed the conflict in cases in which men were jailed. That is news and a violation of judicial ethics. You shouldn't impugn a reporter just doing his job.
To anonymous: If the last comment was meant for me, I did not intend to attack the reporter. But if as you say the purpose of the story was about conflicts and disclosure, why did you insert matters about Jay Gordon and his views and the Judge Colbath order. That is part of the reason it appears you had a slant to either sensationalize or write bad things about Colin. But the other thing that concerned me was when you wrote that the Judge jailed someone without a hearing or order for non payment of support. I have never heard of that happenning. It would suggest that Judge Colin got on the phone and called the sheriff to pick up this man without him appearing in court. That is a very serious accusation by you against a judge. For your sake, I hope you are right.
why do those sticking up for judge colin ignore and refuse to acknowledge the probable cause affidavit for his arrest issued by the delray beach PD for CHILD ABUSE? the judge is a criminal! for that reason and all the other reasons of corruption that failure to disclose initiates. as far as the threat implied by the "very serious" nonsenseby yhe above poster, if every thing the truth tellers say about Judge Martin Colin- that he is a child abuser, a crook, etc. are untrue, why hasn't he taken action to protect his name and reputation? here is the answer. Judge Colin does not dare allow a hearing with witnesses under oath to tell the truth. so far he has avoided such a hearing with him or his wife. but the day is coming when such a hearing will be held, unless he resigns first. that day will be very bad for colin.
Judge Colin has his surrogates John Schutz & Scott Richardson running all over town trying to "spin" what Colin did. Its too late.... Colin is corrupt and owned by Weiss & Handler, to quote Howard Weiss " I own many judges in the 15th judicial"... he brags about that. If thats true its a sad day in Palm Beach County. Colin jailed a litgant without a court order from the prior judge as a favor to Henry Handler. NO ORDER NO HEARING NO NOTHING.... Colin is a criminal. Many cases in Family Coourt need review Colin did NOT disclose his conflicts with attorneys as he was directed to by the 4th DCA in BAEZ. Colin's girlfriend-wife was represented by Handler, Root, Schutz, Pigna & Jette.... And they still appear before Colin again without disclousre of conflict. Soon to published shortly..... Did Colin pay these attorney's to rep his wife Savitt??? Another charge in the indictment..... Its gets worse and worse for Colin. Over 20 cases Colin has recused himself on.. None of this is Jay Gordon's fault. It all goes back to Marty Colin. He has abused the system for so long and its over. He will be punished and sent to jail. Its only a matter of time. His buddies emails and his letters and more, its all here. All will be released and published..... His atty friends will have to answer to the Fl Bar and other agencies. I am a litigant (pro se) that HAD a case before Judge Colin, my wife's atty is none other than WEISS & HANDLER. I was NOT aware of Handler's relationship with Colin UNTIL after the Palm Beach Post article on June 28th, 08. Colin NEVER disclosed any conflict nor did Henry Handler or Carol Kartagener, NEVER! After that news report Colin then mentioned it to me in Conference call from his office with Atty Joel Feldman in his chambers at the time I am told. Colin should have disclosed after the BAEZ decision ----- Colin asked me during that call if I want to dis qualify him and I said YES.... I filed a motion and he granted at once. I have since filed a detailed complaint with the JQC against Colin and several Fl. Bar complaints against Henry Handler & Carol Kartagener. I am outraged, Colin should be removed at once from Family Court. This will open the flood gates for all litigants that appeared before Judge Colin. I am considering a Class Action against Martin Colin in the Federal Courts -- Any other wronged litigants please contact me -- so far we have over 15 litigants current and prior...... Please, we must rid the corruption in the Family Court in Palm Beach County. The lack of Judicial leadership by Judge Kroll is even more scandalous. Kroll should step aside as she has a definite conflict as well... Kroll is Colin's friend....... Judge Brunson where are you???? You must be ashamed!

I urge you folks read the DOCS read BAEZ 4th DCS read transcripts in KASMAN and GORDON and NOLAN and you will see. Colin guilty as charged! Yes, Jay Gordon did get "screwed" by Martin Colin. Colin committed crimes against Gordon. Colin used the Court System for his personal gain.

Doesnt everyone know that Judge Colin is a fine Judge who will not succomb to the pressure of the good ole boy system. That is why if you are from Broweird (no I did not misspell it) you do not have to worry about being home towned. Just know your facts and expect a fair and well thought out decision.
