Judge Pratt better be concerned. She has managed to upset every lawyer that appears before her. I hope she is up to a campaign as she will surely get a challenger.

Judge Pratt managed to upset me and trample my constitutional rights with her friends-and-favors policy. She is found deeply ingrained in Count III of a federal complaint. I will pursue this to the end and then some. Let justice be done, though the heavens may fall.

Why is it a judges fault for upholding the laws of the state? While the fact that Broward may send non-violent offenders to jail/prison at 2x the rate of Miami may be correct, there are other statistics that are likely being overlooked. Do minority Broward residents commit non-violent crimes at 2x the rate per capita than they do in MIami? Are there fewer first time offenders in Broward? What are the per capita rates of substance abusers being offered a rehab alternative in each jurisdiction? Look at all the facts and don't blame the judges because it is the easy answer.

I think Greenhawt (Bush appointee), Imperato (Bush) Luzzo (ethnic name) O'Connor (too many people hate her) Vitale (ethnic name) Williams (Black)
and Tieman-Bristol (not jewish enough) will all draw opposition.

Greenhawt must go!!!! Anyone who challenges her will have many people ready to campaign!

Only one example of her arrogance: Sealing the divorce records of Sheinberg when one of the attorneys was Rae Chorowski, her housemate at the time.

If they stood up to Satz this place would come into line. By and large Satz runs the courtrooms here. They are scared to death to buck him, his overcharged garbage, or the dirty cops he caters to.

We need neutral arbiters who are problem solvers not bureaucrats afraid of their own shadows and obsessed with their pensions.

Judges could ADJ + TS lots of the Satzian nonsense. Everybody in the world doesn't need to be on probation. Judges don't have to sign chixsht warrants. They can set hearings 1st. They don't have to hold everyone NBH on VOPs. They can set bonds on most VOPs. They don't need to revoke for dirty urine. Etc. Etc. Broward needs to grow up and behave responsibly as in the other places. This place creates felons and does everything it can to ensure their kids will be trapped in the system too. Violent ones can't even be convicted at trial because the office is stretched so thin going apesht on every stupid little case. If the current judges can't fix it or refuse to, then these judges should be run out.

I think Sean Conway would be a great candidate to run against Aleman. Sean is an attractive guy, articulate who really cares and fights for his clients. He already has great positive name recognition especially when compared to Aleman. After Ian Richards if the Judge is bad enough you dont need a whole lot of money to run a race.

Sean it is time to show this community, the bar, and Aleman you cannot be pushed around.

I personally would give you $500 if you ran.

Sean, follow the lead of Bober, just get with Kevin and step into the ring and fight the fight. If you win Broward will never be the same.

What's wrong with a little new blood being introduced into Broward's Judiciary? It can't possibly do any more harm than those that believe the jobs are theirs for life and then turn quickly into the megalomaniacs we've seen develop over and over again.
At least the new judges will try to do a good job because they know they are being looked at closely.
I don't see anything so bad about a new crop of judges being voted in.
As a matter of fact, as the Broward Judiciary undergoes the changes I see coming, the only winners are the citizens of Broward.
Democracy is all about providing checks and balances to power that ones enshrined almost always creates a unfounded sense of entitlement and then the arrogance that goes along with it. This recent judicial upset may have caused some shock waves among judicial political circles, but in the end it will improve the quality of the judges we have here.
The Broward Judiciary has needed a good shock. I think this was the first shock of many to come. Progress is inevitable. No matter how they try, they will not stop the march of judicial political carnage created in its wake.
Its time for a number of judges to find out what it is to return to the practice of law and remember what it is they have rather quickly forgotten when they put on a robe. It makes practical political sense.

it does not matter who runs against an incumbent if the sitting judge wins cause we all know that it will mean another p*SS poor attitude for the next ten years. who cares about sheinburg getting his record sealed. what i would like to know is how someone who used to live with someone if true is not automatically recused? can anyone explain that.

I nominate Sandra Pearlman to run against 'the witch'. I will volunteer in any way to help her win, too.

But, if Sandra chooses not to, and if nobody else has put in to run against the 'evil, unfair, witch', I will try to raise the filing fee & put my name in the hat, just for shts and giggles.

In either case, Aleman will not go unopposed. Hopefully, Sandra runs as she is the most qualified for a circuit court judge position.
  • 1/30/2009 4:50 PM Anonymous wrote:
Even if Sandra does run, a third anglo party sounding name should file. The lawyers can raise the filing fee. This way the Aleman vote is split and Sandra wins outright at the primary.

Aleman shouldn't be allowed to drop the accent off her name this time around either.
