Another example of a judge attempting to quiet a matter of great concern to the public.
If actions such as these are not enough to undermine confidence in our judiciary, I'd think the justice system delusional.
I certainly hope this kind of behavior is not to be taken lightly in view of the harm it causes to the integrity of our courts.
I'd have to commend Ms. Alu for following her conscience to its logical conclusion in seeking the advice of Mike Satz and Chuck Morton and the good advice they gave her.
There is a serious problem when judges can laugh about people's lives in such a cavalier manner violating the very oath they took to uphold the law and its ethical obligations and then not be held accountable.

Subpoenas should go to her JA Maria Diamond and Juan Arias at the Florida Bar. If she was involved with Patanzo or Scheinberg or any of the other rumored prosecutors she should be removed and charged criminally.

Gardiner admitting that she was with someone she shouldn't be with and being aware of its ramifications is very disturbing. This is definitely going somewhere.
Kaplan's attempt to disavow any knowledge of this occurrence is equally disturbing.

So let me get this straight.... Satz and Morton told her... she "might" have an obligation to call the bar?

Once they heard the tale... what was their obligation?

there should be more people like Ms. Alu who come out and tell the truth about Gardiner. unfortunately, everybody knows what went on behind closed doors, but they're to chicken to come out and tell the truth. whatever happened to morals?

think about all the defendants who may have received unfair treatment in the courtroom...all because gardiner couldn't do the simple thing--RECUSE HERSELF.

note to all new judges: don't put yourself in this situation. don't behave with such an arrogant and cavalier attitude that you start to believe that you are above the rules. you're not.

    ain't karma a b-tch???

what is up with these judges...can't everyone just put in an honest day's work and go home. these people have cake jobs--come in, collect a paycheck and go home. don't have to grovel for SPD's, don't have to sit at the office praying for someone to come in, don't have to beg for a continuance.

i don't get it. do your job and go home period. you've got gardiner allegedly cavorting with people appearing before her(like there isnt someone else outside of the courthouse), you've got charlie kaplan allegedly calling alu because he has a guilty conscience. and let's not forget the demeanor of the rest of the crew...or the anonymous emails/notes they send each other.

gimme a break people. it's not like the job is so intellectually demanding. i don't understand why broward county judges routinely have to make the news on a weekly basis. it's like they crave the negative attention or something?

John Gallagher was Patanzo's boss at DTU. He should get a subpoena. Whatever he knows he will tell. He's a stand up guy and will tell it like it is.
