Congrats, to Judge Ken Gillespie and your family, now they are five black Judges. I think Richards winning had something to do with this new push for more diversity. Diversity can only help Broward County.

No surprise it's Ken, Hursey and Singhal should be the next two unless the fix is in for Merrigan

Congrats Judge Gillespie! Try and stay away from bad influences and fevers caused by robes and you will be incredible. You were great at GM and will be a great judge.

Ken will do a great job. Sincere Congratulations, Ken! Are we seeing a move toward progress in this one horse town? The replacement of about 6 more judges and it'll pick up steam. I think we're gonna see a few more in 2010.
P.S. I've heard from friends they really can't stand Aleman in civil. Haven't had the pleasure yet myself.

I'm happy for you Ken. You deserve it. Please try to stay out of the judicial loop and remain the independant thinker you are. We need many more judges like you.

Ok!!! Enough of that bullsh-t. It's time for the Jack and anti-Jacks to take over this post. Go to it.

Aleman in civil is a nightmare. The most galling part is that she is just plain lazy. She cannot run motion calendar---you cannot get a hearing from her unless you show up in person to question the j.a. as to an open date.
  • 1/8/2009 8:37 AM The Winds of Change wrote:
How can you get hearing date when she refers everything to GM McCarthy and you can't get a hearing date there either because she doesn't have a JA, wont allow you to amend once a trial date is set, and doesn't know the law. She and Aleman are the Dynamic Duo of Justice Delayed and Denied. Aleman botched a simple default on a commercial Landlord Tenant case where the Answer wasnt filed within five days per Summary Rules and the case then lingered on for seven months. Please send her to Probate!

Can you imagine Aleman in civil? You can shuffle her around but the problem remains.
  • 1/8/2009 9:03 AM possible problem wrote:
The only problem is that Gillespie was a Ross hire. Guess we know how he'll vote if Ross runs again for CJ. That's how it seems to work around here.

Say it isn't so. Ken's phone machine must have been blowing up with pro Dale sentiment yesterday. Let's hope Gillespie doesn't become part of the old school dysfunction that wrecked this place.

I see it as a potential problem as well. Hope not, but these guys are all beholding to who put them there. That's regular politics at work within our judiciary. You oil mine and I'll oil yours.

Kenny knows how to play the game. You all asked for him, you got'em.

If "Kenny" really knows how to play the game he won't go hitching his wagon to some disgraced old glue horse.

By the way, Crist only needs to pick 25 more blacks for judgeships to bring the numbers into line with overall community representation.

Gillespie is playing the game. He'll fit in with the clowns.

Huge congrats for Ken Gillespie. One thing I know, he won't talk to his defendants in William's street lingo.

Thank GOD one less embarassment on the bench with Ken!

    He'll be GREAT!

Motion calendar starts at 845, right?Unless you are a real judge like Rothschild and / Carney (Carney starts promptly at 830 and Rothschild now does foreclosures at 8!)Many other circuit judges start just about on time (Henning,Luzzo,Weinstein) but how about Aleman: today 920am exactly is when she showed up....don't know what time she started calling cases. Eade showed up at 935am! I think we should start reporting when judges begin work each day.
