The Honorable Richard Yale Feder
Jack Thompson of Coral Gables earlier this week posted comments regarding his thoughts on Dade jurist, the Honorable Richard Feder, who is sitting for Judge Bober this week. Thompson blogged of Feder "This guy is a menace," who supports the possession of child porn.

However, Jack Thompson had a brief adversarial judicial history with Judge Feder that he failed to disclose.
Twenty years ago, Thompson was named as a defendant in a libel action by radio talk show hosts Neil Rogers and Steve Kane. Judge Feder was the judge.
Norm Kent, Rogers’ long time attorney, was Counsel for the Plaintiffs. It was his first legal run in with Thompson.
In the midst of the litigation, Kent brought a Rule to Show Cause issue against Mr. Thompson.
What follows is a transcript of a motion calendar hearing from July of 1989, where Thompson, threatened with a possible hearing on contempt, pulled a toothbrush out of his pocket, and dared Judge Feder to put him in jail. Attached is a PDF copy of that hearing.
Because Thompson steadfastly refused to comply with the judge's guidelines, all of his pleadings in the case were subsequently stricken by Judge Feder. Thompson then asked the court to recuse itself, pointing out the Judge’s ties to the ACLU, and attaching an article he had written in a law journal from 1969, 20 years earlier. But as Judge Friedman in Miami did last year, Judge Feder did recuse himself, referring the Thompson matter to the Florida Bar for possible disciplinary action.
The case against Thompson was eventually settled after both parties agreed to a restraining order, and Thompson consented not to interfere with Neil Rogers' shows or broadcast.
However, on October 1, 1992, Thompson received a public reprimand for professional misconduct from the Florida Bar.
On November 25, 2008, as a result of his conviction on 27 counts of professional misconduct, Thompson was permanently disbarred by the Supreme Court of Florida. Judge Feder is a visiting jurist in Broward, dispensing justice still.
Jack Thompson... Retarded back then and 20 years later is still a laughing stock of the legal community.
Some of the names he calls Kent, though infantile, are funny.
This Thompson needs more than to be disbarred. He needs to be locked up.
More proof that Jack Thompson fully deserved his disbarment. His belief that he is being persecuted by the Bar because of his Christian belief makes GWB's connections of the Iraq War to WMDs and 9/11 seem logical. Jack, you were disbarred because of repeated and persistent unprofessional, unethical and repulsive behavior, nothing else. Every attorney meets an adversary they don't like. They will fume in private, maybe even mutter a few musings to close friends and colleagues, but treat that person in a properly professional manner. Every attorney also makes a slip or two, but a good one apologizes.

I read that transcript and was shocked that someone who conducted himself like that in court in 1989 was still practicing law in FL until 2008.

Or the slew of complaints lodged against Jack Thompson between 1989 and 2008, any of which, had the Florida Bar choose to properly pursue the matter, would have provided a basis for sanctioning Thompson. But they chose to stick their heads in the sand by finding no probable cause in every case -- despite, in my opinion, clear probable cause in every case. Not until the complaints started coming in from judges before Thompson was appearing and acting his usual insane, idiotic self, did the Bar have no choice but to proceed with a finding of probable cause. It's not like you can easily tell a couple of sitting judges, "Sorry, we found no cause to your complaint." That tends to make them look like the insane idiots. And even then, they were willing to let Thompson off the hook with a wholly inappropriate and mind-boggling 90-day suspension instead of the more appropriate disbarment.
Hopefully, all this begins to explains how Jack Thompson managed to keep his license to practice law about 20 years longer than he ever should have.

If anyone needs fresh proof of that fact, just look at the ease with which he stretches out his scaly, gnarled, claw-like hands and wraps them around the neck of Viviane Gariboldi in order to drag her down into his black hole of hate. Without a moment's hesitation to consider the effect of his doing so on her employment, livelihood, and professional reputation. And what's the best basis he can provide for sinking his meat hooks into Ms. Gariboldi's neck? That she's the Secretary of JAAB, Inc? Isn't the Secretary the one who keeps the minutes and the corporate books and does not much of anything else on behalf of the corporation? But Jack Thompson could give a rat's tush about what the consequences to her are, as long as he can use her in his insane schemes to accomplish God only knows what. He simply doesn't care. Because he is a mean, evil, petty, uncaring scumbag.
And the other idiot who props him up financially and enables him to rampage around, destroying other people's reputations and needlessly and recklessly interfering with their business and personal relationships, gets painted with the same brush and pigment, in my opinion. The Florida Bar may indeed be criminal (I really don't know - I don't live in Florida), but one of their criminal acts was NOT disbarring JT sooner. That hack doesn't deserve to practice law, and if you say that he does, I'd seriously suggest either researching his past, or if you already know about that, psychiatric help.
I now know why Jack Thompson refers to himself as J.D.
It stands for Just Dumb. Or Just Disbarred.
It does not stand for his ability to go online and read.
Vivianne Gariboldi, of whom he protested on another blog page this day, has nothing to do with JAAB, Inc., anymore, as she is not an officer or director.
It appears that JAAB, Inc., is a non profit association that is now headed by Norm Kent, and if you look at the article he wrote last week, there is no telling whether the group is going to do anything, reform, reorganize, or regroup. Maybe just regurgitate from reading Thompson's insane posts.
On the other hand, JAABLOG is real active, and an independent entity where dozens of people can post articles and anyone can post comments. I just read the law.com article Thompson referred to, and if it suggests anything to me it is that his complaints against Gelin are meritless, and this blog has a life of its own.
Heck if you read enough of it you would think it belongs to that guy Thompson. He certainly posts a hell of a lot more than any other human being here.

I gots to disagree with you. He's more than a idiot child posting nonsense on the 'Net. He's actually a very dangerous individual who, by his habitual conduct, poses a significant risk of harm to others. Put yourself in the shoes of Bill Gelin or Vivianne Gariboldi and re-think your assessment of Jack Thompson. Or the Hon. Thomas Hall, Clerk of the Florida Supreme Court, who Jack Thompson has publicly accused of criminal wrong-doing. I'd imagine from the perspective of those individuals (and I used them only as recent examples from a much longer list of similarly situated individuals) that Jack Thompson's conduct amounts to just a little bit more than nonsense. "Vicious" and "cruel" may be better descriptors.
And he has nowhere come to the end he justly deserves, my friend. Unfortunately, he is still very much alive and kicking . . . other people in the teeth.

Despite the fact that, from my perspective, said Federal Marshal was merely following the orders of the Chief Judge at the federal courthouse. Another example of his willingness to reach out and grab anybody and everybody around the throat and drag them down into black hole of hate.
I really don't. Im a civil attorney in a large firm. We're expected to be well-behaved. I'm pretty isolated from Bar disciplinary proceedings but have learned a lot from this website. Thanks for taking the time to write.

I agree with you. I was shocked to see a man speak with such impudence to the judge. The judge was more patient and tolerant with him than I would have been. And if he talked like that in a NC court the judge would have had him grabbed up by the bailiff on the spot.
