MEDIA DOING SATZ'S JOB - AGAIN

BOB NORMAN'S DAILY PULP
Russ Klenet and Wife Stacy Ritter Mutually Benefited From Fraud

"And (Klenet) is the guy that Broward Mayor Stacy Ritter comes home to every night? And they wonder why Broward County is such a corrupt and disgusting place? It gets worse. Indicted by the feds on January 5 with Steiner was lawyer Michael McNerney. As I reported here, McNerney is the former law partner of Broward Vice Mayor Ken Keechl. And guess what? Keechl worked side-by-side with McNerney to defend MBC against lawsuits alleging fraud and other violations.

This county needs an enema, folks. And a good hot shower.

You know, I wish Michael Satz would have done his job when he investigated Klenet and Ritter last year (following my reporting on the couple's conflicts of interests). Maybe now it will be left for the feds -- ala Ken Jenne -- to come and clean up this festering sore of a county."

New Rule.. Any woman who runs for elected office must use her married name. How many Broward County taxpayers actually know that Lori Parrish is married to Judge Cohen? Or that Judge Phillips is married to Mayor Naugle? or that Mayor Ritter was married to this guy? And on and on it goes. Reminds me of a friend who had divorce proceedings before Judge Phillips and could not understand why she was getting ridiculous rulings until she realized that Judge Phillips was really Mrs. Naugle.. and that the respondent was close friends with Mr.Naugle who had appointed him to certain positions.. and why didn't the judge immediately remove herself.. and yada yada yada.

So what if a married woman has never changed her name and everyone knows her by her maiden name. You think that women should be FORCED to take on their husband's name?

I am male. If my wife were a successful attorney, there's no way I'd allow her to change her maiden name to mine.

Besides, Florida law forces the wife to change her name in dependent of matrimony. There is no automatic change or surname upon marriage.

As far as Raindancer goes, all I can say is "Oink, oink, oink."

If they are attempting to become an elected official, particularly one with a fiduciary duty to their constituency, then the answer is absolutely yes. Or they can use a hyphenated name. Disclosure is a wonderful thing. Stop being evasive.Half truths are a lie. Voters should be fully aware of potential conflicts of interest.

the only thing they should disclose is if they are married and what is the spouses name. That should be for both a man and woman. It is very chauvanistic of you to force a woman to take her husbands name.

So we agree that it should be disclosed, but disagree on the manner in which is should be disclosed.
Just out of curiosity, why would a woman who gets married not want to take her husband's name? As a male, I could live with my wife having a hyphenated name. Especially if she had an established career. But if she flat out refused to take my name, even on a hyphenated basis, big red flags might go up. What is the rationale of that, particularly with woman running for elected office. Are they embarrassed or something about who they married? Why the evasiveness?

Because many women do not feel the need to take on an entire new identity simply because they are married. Some women feel it is an old male dominated system that required them to take on a husbands name and they may want no part of that system. There can be many reasons why a woman would chose to keep her name. If you are a man and you are secure that your wife loves you then there are no "big red flags" It is a choice for a woman to make. Both men and women and public office should disclose who their partners are. But women should not ever be foced to take on any names- it reeks of chauvanism.

I don't equate the woman I married using my last name as taking on a whole new identity. I doubt she does either. She's still the same gal.
If they have children, do the kids get their choice of which last name to use, or do they take dad's last name? And why?
Can you tell me with a straight face that folks in Broward County know that our Property Appraiser is married to a judge.. or that our County Mayor is married to a lobbyist or that a Circuit Judg is married to a city Mayor? Unless you work at the courthouse or in government, how would you know? They've never adequately disclosed it to the populace. I suspect it has more to do with being evasive with respect to conflicts of interest or associations rather than women's lib. But that's just me.

a woman should on introduce herself using her husband's name (ie Mrs Joseph Smith).

Speaking of husbands/wives, would you want to be a gay person appearing before Judge Carol Lisa Phillips knowing she is married to a bigot like Naugle? Does she condone his views? We know she tolerates it by staying with him. Strange behavior by Naugle and stranger still for a Judge to live with it.

You can't be serious. This is perhaps one of the most self-centered, ignorant things I have ever read (and I am male).

Does it ever occur to the women that refuse to take their husbands last name that the maiden name they're keeping is also that of a man. So they refuse to take their husbands last name, but want to keep daddy's last name. Okay, I see how that works.
