"SOB STORIES" PART DEUX

Remember the beef between Judge Ireland and feisty young lawyer Meritxell Ros?  It's apparently not over.

It seems Judge Ireland has been acting a bit peeved toward Ms. Ros since the incident.

The Order of Disqualification itself is a bit spicy:

"This Court being required by Florida Rule of Judicial Administrative 2.330(f) to take the facts stated as true and view
them from the Defendant's perspective, finds this motion to be legally sufficient. Therefore the motion is granted,
and the clerk is ordered to transfer this issue pursuant to law.

However, justice requires comment. This motion is an inaccurate and incomplete representation of the actual conversation,
which was not on record. I deny each and every conclusion contained in the motion. This Court has no policy
                concerning sentencing."

We're not sure, but we hear additional motions may be filed against the Judge for some other comments made on the record since the disqualification.

Stay tuned...

She'll take the face-saving way to retire and eventually announce she won't be running for reelection next year. In the meantime, I'm thinking she goes back to civil in a month or two.

    BROWARD MAYHEM

There is so much going on North of the Border today that they get their own post. The title of the post links to the very busy blog.

FIRST: A man ran from Judge Imperato's courtroom and was chased by law enforcement. He ran outside and jumped into a canal. He was not seen surfacing. (In the movies he would surface into a "reverso world". He would be pulled from the canal. Given a warm blanket and hot coffee. A therapist would come for counseling and his case would be resolved. But that's the movies.)

Monday morning, Broward County. The courtroom is full. A Bailiff walks in:

"Folks, in a moment Judge Imperato will take the bench. Please turn off your cell phones. No talking while court is in session please. When you hear your name called, please step forward to the podium. If you all look under your seats you will see life vests. In the event the judge tries to take you into custody and you decide to flee and jump into a canal, please put the life vest on, pull the straps through the buckle and pull until firm. There is a small inflation device on the front of the vest. Put the device in your mouth and pull up and blow. In the event of sudden decompression in the courtroom oxygen masks will drop down. Please locate your attorney and put the mask on him or her first. And when it comes to criminal law, we know you have a lot of choices. Thanks for choosing Imperato. "

SECOND: About ten days ago Judge Ireland was accused by attorney Meritxell Ros of stating that she had a new policy of sending defendants to jail upon conviction at trial. Judge Ireland has signed the order of recusal with this proviso:

"This Court being required by Florida Rule of Judicial Administrative 2.330(f) to take the facts stated as true and view them from the Defendant's perspective, finds this motion to be legally sufficient. Therefore the motion is granted, and the clerk is ordered to transfer this issue pursuant to law.
However, justice requires comment. This motion is an inaccurate and incomplete representation of the actual conversation, which was not on record. I deny each and every conclusion contained in the motion. This Court has no policy
    concerning sentencing."

THIRD: DEFENDANT ATTACKED IN COURT DURING TRIAL BY FATHER OF ALLEGED VICTIM.
The Broward Blog and the Herald report here that Alain Cupas, the former Everglades Highschool wrestling coach who is accused of the sexual assault of a student was confronted and punched by the father of the student.

Rumpole notes: It has got to be something in the water up there. They're losing their minds.

Things were so much better back in the days of PAN AM, hey Ireland? Back then you you weren't out of your depth. You should have stayed a flight attendant for you don't have what it takes to stay a judge.

All conversations had in court should be on the record. Ireland can't control her mouth, especially when she's talking about herself. Somebody should run against this clown and send her packing for a colder climate.

She would never win an election against a bright, experienced, Jewish female, candidate for judge.

She is always in such a bad/nasty mood. Kinda like Judge O'Connor.
