New prosecutors assigned in murder case after misconduct charge (Martinez)
*Florida Supreme Court postpones Marek execution despite Weinstein's ruling for the State*
"The new evidence is very solid and the new evidence should require that Mr. Marek's death sentence be vacated. I feel very stronly that Judge Weinstein was wrong," (Marek's lawyer) McClain said. "But I feel very encouraged that the Florida Supreme Court has granted an indefinite stay of execution and scheduled oral arguments for May 20."

"Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Martin Colin is being asked to explain how he and his new wife can claim homestead exemptions on two separate homes...
The homestead exemption scrape is the latest skirmish in the decade-long battle between Colin and his wife's ex-husband, Jay Gordon.
Gordon said he discovered that both were claiming the exemption and reported it last week.
The dispute between the two men began in 2001 when Colin represented Savitt in her divorce from Gordon. Savitt and Colin then began dating. Once Colin was elected to the bench, Gordon claims the judge used his influence over other jurists to keep him from the son he had with Savitt. Gordon has filed complaints against Colin with the Florida Bar, the Judicial Qualifications Commission and the State Attorney, all to no avail..."

IT'S NOT FAIR - The Clerk's Office braces for furloughs, starting in June. One day a month, until further notice ... Will another senior Assistant Public Defender announce his judicial candidacy soon? That's the rumor. We hear he's interested in a certain circuit seat, currently occupied. Get this - his middle name is straight out of the Old Testament & Highway 61. 2010 is really shaping up to be one heck of a tsunami ... Speaking of contested judicial elections, did you see Pedro & Julio today? Both of Rothstein's X-Broward judges were seen together in Judge Richards' courtroom bright and early. JAABCAM came out, but one of the X-judges asked nicely, so we refrained (guess which one?) ... The possible concession in State v. Loureiro is looking less possible and more likely. The star witness has reportedly not been set for deposition, nor has the second civilian witness who was present on the fateful night. Apparently, a HUSH order has also been put into place, since the disease ridden cat was so carelessly let out of the bag a couple of weeks ago. Calls and emails are not being returned, which can only mean one thing ... Lastly, if you haven't seen it already, check out the photo montage from Bo & Jerry's 30th Annual Law Day.

That seems to be one of the biggest problems that is repeatedly evidenced with these judicial politicians with what they feel they are owed and what is owed to those that they use to get what they want.
It's a mindset that needs to be addressed among these clowns that work that way.
There is apparently no shortage of twerps that lack the talent and the conviction and thus rely on the handouts of these judges thinking maybe they'll get as little as a good ruling for their efforts.
Judges should make rulings based on good judgment and in accordance with fairness and the law; not because some duffis helped them with their campaign. Additionally, any attorney that is appearing before a judge wherein they have worked for their campaign should acknowledge that fact on the record before opposing counsel and the parties. Unfortunately, this behavior seems to occur mostly among sitting judges with a past for such tactics.
This place needs to be cleaned up, and particularly this practice by unscrupulous attorneys who seek this kind of recognition.

Our Clerk's Office is the most messed up in the state. I'd be amazed if they ever did anything right. Instead of operating in the 21st century, Forman has chosen to remain in the 1950s. It's a disgrace with what's going on down there.
I saw Julio doing a traffic ticket at Central last week...Adressed the Magistrate as Your Honor. Sad

You obviously don't know what you are talking about. The office is the best it has ever been with Forman. He and his administrative staff are doing a great job.
Maybe it is an honest mistake whoever writes the property appraiser and says hey i sold this house or moved? Probate is suppose to be a piece of cake assignment for a judge. He is lucky.
6:07, if this is the best the Clerk's office has ever been, I can't even imagine what the worst must have been like. The office exists primarily for the purpose of creating self-perpetuating make-work patronage jobs. If that were not the case, it could follow the lead of the feds, go electronic, cut its staff by 75%, and not lose and/or screw up so many of the files.
We have Ellen Feld and our weasel legal community to thank for that. He'll always be Judge Gonzalez to me and many.
