JAABLOG CENSORED (AGAIN)

JAABLOG is once again blocked from the public access computers in the law library.

The same thing happened about a year ago, when an angry and embarrassed judge (we think) called in a favor with the County's
technology people.  The Blog was blocked, we publicized it, it was unblocked, then blocked again, and then unblocked again after everyone remembered Broward was still part of the United States of America.

This time it looks like the ban will hold.  Here's the screen that pops up in lieu of the Blog:

Content blocked by your organization

Reason:
This Websense category is filtered: Social Networking and Personal Sites.

URL:  http://jaablog.jaablaw.com/

We checked, and Facebook is blocked, along with Rumpole, The Southern District of Florida Blog and South Florida Lawyers.  Strangely, pro-establishment blog BrowardBeat.com is still available, as well as freedom warrior Bob Norman's Daily Pulp and Above the Law.

Time to buy a mini-netbook ...

Who cares. I've got my Blackberry.
Am I surprised? Not at all. They can't stand the truth getting out about anything unless it goes through them. And talk about filtering... It doesn't resemble an ounce of truth after they're finished with it.
It's pretty bad, but this is Broward and the Ross mentality continues to diminish.

I discovered this is happening to a number of establishment critical websites.

Last year I notified the then owner of BadCopNews.com that Time Warner was blocking his site. In the article about that, the reporter contacted the owner (a single phone call) minutes before publishing and only spoke to the pr people for Time Warner. Three guess how the story read.

The owner then discovered the site was blocked in the south west and Ohio.

You will find this is happening without much press notice, or short, poorly investigated articles.

The tighter they attempt to close their fists on freedom of speech, the more slips through their fingers. It's a fundamental right quaranteed by the Constitution. It doesn't work anyway. This is America, not Cuba.

It's stupid, yes, but as a rule one should first assume incompetence rather than malice as the motivating force behind bureaucracy.

The 17th Judicial Circuit has never been a bastion of law, justice or freedom of speech. Of course, if the members of the Broward County Bar ever collectively grew a backbone and stood up for what is right rather than in their self interest, this kind of chicanery would end. Oh yes, Dale Ross was chief judge for how many years? And who were the lawyers that opposed him?

This is the best site dealing with the crooked drama of the Broward Courthouse I've ever seen.
I used to log on every once in a while when I'd heard about something going on in the courthouse, but as I continue to see the corrupt dealings and self serving nature of the inner workings of our so called justice system, I can't help but be drawn back to your site over and over again.
There sure are allot of crooked people that would prefer to work in secret and in the dark, but my hats off to bringing the slimey process the light of honest debate when facing such odds. Please keep it up.
After working in the courthouse for 12 years, I've come to understand that unless the corruption and nasty political manipulations are exposed, these people will just continue to run over honest and hard working people that want to see change in this slop pit.
Sorry for the strong language, but it really needs to be cleaned up and I appreaciate the chance to express my views on all the subjects you provide.

I've got my phone with access to the internet. Who needs the law library to read the comments on this site.
Pretty childish to think that by blocking the site it stops people from accessing it.
That's the kind of crap Ross & Co. would have used. Now they hide in chambers all the time hoping someone doesn't run against them for all their past sins and arrogance. It will probably happen anyway.

Cute picture and not too far from the truth.
Those that are scared of the truth and try to limit its dissemination are now looking at the consequences of their actions with the power of the 21st century working against them.
Without their ability to slow down the escape of information and the time to manage the spin they'd attempt to put on it, they're lost in what is quickly becoming the inevitable confrontation with the truth and the resultant public scorn for their bad decisions being made at the expense of Justice.
