Once a court decides not to sentence a defendant as a habitual offender and, instead, sentences him or her under the sentencing guidelines, it may not, upon revocation of probation, resentence that defendant as a habitual offender. The habitualization process was completed at the original sentencing hearing.

In Broward County the Sheriff went to prison, local government is currently being de-cessified by the FBI, and the State Attorney is asleep at the wheel. But don't despair - if you're in trouble in Broward, call a hippie!
Click here for Howard Finkelstein calling out the County Commission on November 13, 2008 ("what the hell is going on?") and click here for a January 27th, 2009 transcript where Finkelstein outs the Commissioners on their "pay to play" agenda.
Both transcripts deal with the controversial Pretrial Ordinance jammed through by lobbyist Ron Book. Pretty interesting stuff in hindsight, particularly when you consider the current situation former Commissioner Eggelletion finds himself in. You really can't make this stuff up, and it's refreshing to see that the Sun-Sentinel and others have finally started to report what Finkelstein has been screaming about.
So, don't despair. When you've lost all hope in your public officials, if things seem to be hopeless and there's no one you can trust ...
