TO MR. SATZ, MR. MIKOS, MR. DEGROOT, ET AL
You Are Forgiven** - Stolen Time - An Evening With Sunny Jacobs.
"Has she forgiven Michael Satz, the prosecutor that withheld evidence and sent her innocent husband to death? Unbelievably, she has. ‘Anger is a toxic fuel’ says Sunny, ‘it doesn't serve my purpose." (**)
SATZ TV - check out Mike Satz being interviewed at the 2007 Broward County Crime Commission's Prosecutor of the Year Gala, honoring Scott Raft.
"Our mission is do the right thing for the right reason ... our goal is to enhance the quality of life in our community ... I think our mission is being accomplished ... "
The right thing for the right reason? Is this guy serious? You can't make this stuff up, ladies and gentlemen.

Safety in numbers - click here for the DBR's article "State attorneys targeting public corruption".
"State attorneys met earlier this month at a Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association retreat. A working group was formed to review proposals for legislation. The panel will be chaired by Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle. McAuliffe, Satz, Monroe State Attorney Dennis Ward and Hillsborough State Attorney Mark Ober round out the committee ...
Despite budget constraints, Satz said citizens are looking to the state to police its own officials.

“I know most or all the state attorneys are interesting in fighting public corruption,” Satz said. “It’s critical to us.”
Daily Pulp - Rothstein Gave Big to State Attorney Satz
"Total: $7,250 ... That's a minimum. About $1,500 worth of the contributions were in-kind for food and drink at an event, indicating that Rothstein threw Satz a fund raiser ... Rothstein could boast he was responsible for about 7.5 percent of the Satz total ...
And isn't it absurd that our state attorney likely considered one of Broward's all-time worst criminals a pal? ... This is a big reason Satz has been such an abject failure when it comes to prosecuting political corruption in Broward County. He's a damned politician. He relies on the same folks for campaign contributions and consulting as the rest of the elected officials in this rancid town.
Satz's campaign manager is lobbyist Barbara Miller. She is partners with Neil Sterling, and the two of them are involved in rampant corruption at the Broward County School Board (with Sterling in the lead role).
Look at Satz's contribution list; it's loaded with all the lobbyists (including Sterling) and monied interests that manipulate all the other pols in this town. The corrupt elite in Broward town are his peeps. That's one reason he's tried to make his bones with drug cases and several high-profile murder cases involving destitute and often mentally challenged men who proved to be innocent. It's the height of perversity.
Satz is walking proof that the state attorney position shouldn't be elected, not only because of his connections and record but because he's been in office since 1976. I know that appointed positions have their share of problems (just look at the history of the North Broward Health District). But I'm convinced now that the position should be appointed at the state level. This election thing isn't working in Broward County at all."
(Our estimate was off by a couple of grand at $5,400.00.)

These same politicians, Judges, lawyers and officers who sneer at "Dade Lawyers" and have mistreated and maligned us for decades as unprincipled and uncouth, have now been unmasked for what they really are- rank hypocrites who fought over each other to jump into bed and be closest to the man with the money. May each and every one of them get what they truly deserve.

Regarding JAABLOG'S ONCE UPON A TIME, the post was never intended to implicate Mr. Satz in what looks like a "pot party". The point, then and now, was to show that Mr. Satz may have employed and closely associated with possible drug users. It was intended as simply yet another illustration that Mr. Satz's drug policies are unrealistic and often cruel, and often hypocritical.
Mr. Satz, while insisting on supervision, jail or prison and felony charges for even microscopic, unusable amounts of chemicals that make up cocaine, still hires people who used drugs to prosecute drug use. He also associated with possible drug users. All this, despite his stated belief that "people using drugs are actively involved in all sorts of criminal activities such as burglaries, robberies, and violent crimes". Doesn't it seem like a double standard is being employed?
As for the pictures themselves, they appear on their face to be from different nights. The one of Mr. Satz at the dinner table has eight diners, while only two of that night's "dinner pals" appear in the pictures with the cig. The bolded public links (now down), if followed, clearly showed that the photos were part of a gallery taken at the same house over a decade ("1970's Billiards at 2725 House").
That being said, enough people have commented thinking that Mr. Satz was involved with drugs for us to realize that the post could have been clearer. It should also be stated that we personally don't think Mr. Satz has ever used marijuana or other drugs, which, of course, is part of the problem. Simply stated, if he had grown up in the modern world where drugs are unfortunately everywhere, he may had been able to fashion a more realistic and effective approach to the drug problem plaguing our community.
Our apologies to anyone offended or confused by the post.
Gardiner & Scheinberg catch a break - Judge Chernow-Brown ruled last week that the defense may not conduct any additional discovery into the personal lives of Judge Ana Gardiner & former ASA Howard Scheinberg. As previously reported, Chernow-Brown wanted authority to determine if she could dismiss the Loureiro case based on prosecutorial & judicial misconduct before she authorized the release of additional phone records. Apparently, she decided she could not, ruling that further inquiry into the Gardiner/Scheinberg friendship was unnecessary. We'll post the Order as soon as we get it, in the meantime, here's the transcript from the September 21st hearing, when Gardiner & Scheinberg's lawyers said "no way" to releasing the phone records (Bogenschutz, Goldberger & Lyons).

See if others would just learn, when you push back and confront Gelin head on, he caves. Outside of his "Jaablog" moniker he is just a big whiny pu$$y.
" never intended to implicate Mr. Satz in what looks like a "pot party"."
Give us a break Bill, you know damn well that is what you intended to do. We would have a lot more respect for you if you just admitted that is what you tried to do and if someone didnt like it the could phuck off.
1. "The point, then and now, was to show that Mr. Satz may have employed and closely associated with drug users."
Ok, so the point was to potentially libel those in the picture as "drug users" in order to make a political point against Mike Satz?
2. "It should also be stated that we personally don't think Mr. Satz has ever used marijuana or other drugs, which, of course, is part of the problem."
Ok, so basically what you are saying is that if someone used drugs 30 years ago, they'd not prosecute residue cases? Huh?
How can anyone who used drugs prosecute drugs? Particularly if they never went to Rehab? Are you serious? Just because they never got caught they can ship people off? Are you twisted?
Screw Mikos Degroot, and most of all Mike Satz. The post and the photos were dead on. Hypocrites all -- we all know the point of the post and it's ok that you needed to "clarify" (wink wink). Yah, "rolled cigarettes", right...That's the ticket.
Mwahahahahahaah.
I'm Blue! Are You Blue?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBi1yiRY30U
The Drug War is a charade designed to build prisons and create jobs on the backs of the poor.
We should all be ashamed, and the hypocrites who use or used drugs and now prosecute will one day answer for their actions against God's Children.
Hey Satz---when you lay down with dopers you get up with a great reputation...just like all the poor bastards you send to jail for residue crimes. You should put yourself there...The pictures speak a thousand hypocritical words...
Hypcorites? In the Criminal Justice System? This is news?
I think people who partied in past lives can become police officers or prosecutors. Otherwise, how can we find anyone to do those jobs since nearly everyone does drugs when they are young?
The problem in Broward is the nasty over the top fashion in which the cases are prosecuted. Trafficking statutes are twisted to lock up pill heads forever, and small time addict/dealers and homeless are sent away for no good reason.
If the former users stood up to Satz and implemented a sensible approach along the lines of Palm Beach and Miami it might restore credibility to the SAO. Until then, they really should be ashamed for going along to get ahead.
I mean, Bill, I mean 254....I mean Bill....oh wait, I mean Jaablog...I mean, whatever you want to call yourself today.
254?
To Thanks 254:
But you can't stop reading, can you?
the herbs back then was all bogus regs anyway
Did you see this?
Rothstein Gave Big To State Attorney Satz
http://blogs.browardpalmbeach.com/pulp/2009/11/scott_rothstein_michael_satz.php
Satzie is getting it from all sides these days. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
The only pu$$ys around here are people like you who sat by and watched while the SAO did as it pleased.
"Ok, so basically what you are saying is that if someone used drugs 30 years ago, they'd not prosecute residue cases? Huh?"
Sounds a prosecutor wrote this. Do as I say, Not as I do!
If you want to indict anyone regarding "sitting by and watching", you need to indict the entire defense bar who did nothing but profit off of the SAO's policies.
If Satz wasn't prosecuting every residue case that came across his filing attorney's desks, what would happen.....
The PD's office could have probably nixed a half-dozen or more attorneys from its roster.
Private defense attorneys would have hundreds or thousands of fewer paying clients.
When the SPDs were still being doled out like party favors, the multitude of residue/drug cases where the PD had to withdraw that flowed a nearly $1k per case to the defnese bar would have dried up faster than.....well, you can guess.
Lay the blame at Satz's feet all you want (and it's justified) but in the end, everyone is just as guilty or even more so because they stood by and did nothing except profit from this garbage.
Hey, maybe Bill never took an SPD or a private client on a residue case before he started the blog. He may be one of the few people that can rightfully make this criticism because he's bitched about this for years and didn't profit from it beforehand. I don't know. Only he can answer on that one.
But before anyone else acts high and mighty about this issue, look back at your finances since you've been in a criminal defense practice. Figure out whether the car you're driving or the house you live in or the cruise vacation you took last year came as a result of money paid you because of Mike Satz's drug policies.
Look in the mirror. You may look more like Mike Satz than you originally thought.
.
..
Gelin writes: " ... we personally don't think Mr. Satz has ever used marijuana or other drugs, which, of course, is part of the problem."
I personally don't think Mr. Gelin will ever be known for cogent argument rather than for, as John deGroot puts it, "slime ball innuendo", which, of course, is part of Gelin's problem.
...
Now the SAO is allied with John deGroot who has called Mike every name in the book. Politics makes strange bedfellows indeed.
Oh boy Mark Springer who used to snub his nose at authority every time he stubbed out a smoke in his publicly funded private office. Lucky they can't send you to prison for that except you would have been given a free pass anyway.
"just a big whiny pu$$y"
well the big whiny pu$$y has done more to change to tenor around here than the other whiny pu$$ies who just complained in the backroom but were to pu$$y to do anything about it.
the links with the pictues have been removed. along with the reaction of some of these old timers I guess we know what type of smoke it was.
hahahaahaha...people who live in glass houses.....hahahahahahaha
the Springer doth protest too much
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO CIVIL DISCOURSE?
THEY DON'T LIKE IT WHEN SOMEBODY ELSE IS POINTING THE FINGERS
Someone should open a rehab center for the paranoid. I can't remember when I've laughed so hard.
So you've got some pictures of a bunch of goofs partying down at what looks like Sharkey's Bar.
The only thing funnier is a bunch of goofs getting all twisted about it!
hit and pass mike, hit and pass.puff puff pass pass.
William Jefferson Clinton: " I NEVER SLEPT WITH THAT WOMAN."
These pictures were obviously captured from the internet. What's the big deal? You'd think someone wouldn't want anybody else to know about it or something.
Hyper reaction to job security is what I'd call it.
Mark Springer we need you.
Please unretire.
Morale is loe.
This is a thought provoking topic which will ultimately lead to one possible conclusion ---- racism in Florida will always exist.
Dear Kitty
Judge NHI Greene still a Judge, elected without opposition
Judge Wide Receiver Levenson, elected without opposition
Judge Nepotism Stacy Ross, elected without opposition
Judge Dale Ross, steps down as CJ, remains a judge
Judge Spellcheck Tobin, Chief Judge and public advocate of Rosenfelt and Rothstein. great replacement
Judge Gardiner, still a judge despite rumors of alleged forced retirement.
Satz, still filing residue cases and shipping off more minorities than ever before. No opponent anywhere in sight.
Speaking of minorities, this blog the champion of Broward minorities becomes the catalyst for the ouster of 3 minority judges.
Judge "they live in hovels" Feiner, promoted to Civil.
Judge anti handicap Garcia Wood still a judge.
Jaab against a new courthouse... so we are getting a new courthouse.
Judge Spechler, retires, you get that one. Of course this was done at the behest of Judge ADJ, who know has two challengers highly touted by Jaab. Well no one said there was loyalty around here.
Blog makes it fashionable to fight for minorities in the system by ousting Republican Judges. Kulik rides the cause in 2008 but in 2009 runs the Seidman campaign. Huh?
Jaab supports the demise of the JAC and appointment process which hurts their fellow lawyers and forces the poor minorities to get even worse representation from Office of Conflict Counsel.
So in the end its done little and actually has hurt those minorities its claims to want to help.
Its essentially Star Magazine, interesting to read but provides little substance.
It's true. Unless Satz goes it's all for naught. He is the root of all the problems here.
Judge NHI Greene still a Judge, elected without opposition BUT NO LONGER HEAD OF CRIMINAL BANISHED TO CIVIL
Judge Wide Receiver Levenson, elected without opposition WHO CARES HE REINSTATES
Judge Nepotism Stacy Ross, elected without opposition ACTUALLY A PRETTY GOOD JUDGE
Judge Dale Ross, steps down as CJ, remains a judge REMOVED AS CJ BY OUTSIDE FORCES
Judge Spellcheck Tobin, Chief Judge and public advocate of Rosenfelt and Rothstein. great replacement MOVED ALL THE CLUNKERS OUT OF CRIMINAL
Judge Gardiner, still a judge despite rumors of alleged forced retirement. NO LONGER HEAD OF CRIMINAL BANISHED TO CIVIL
Satz, still filing residue cases and shipping off more minorities than ever before. No opponent anywhere in sight. YOU THINK HE'S HAPPY THESE DAYS?
Speaking of minorities, this blog the champion of Broward minorities becomes the catalyst for the ouster of 3 minority judges. KEN GILLESPIE APPOINTED, SAO AVALOS REPLACED BY AA RICHARDS, SAO DIJOLS REPLACED BY PD BOBER, JULIO CLIPPED BY FELD
Judge "they live in hovels" Feiner, promoted to Civil. BANISHED TO CIVIL AFTER MOUTHING OFF ON THE RECORD YET AGAIN
Judge anti handicap Garcia Wood still a judge. WHO CARES - WHO IS SHE ANYWAY?
Jaab against a new courthouse... so we are getting a new courthouse. WHEN?
Judge Spechler, retires, you get that one. Of course this was done at the behest of Judge ADJ, who know has two challengers highly touted by Jaab. Well no one said there was loyalty around here. ARE YOU FOR REAL?
Blog makes it fashionable to fight for minorities in the system by ousting Republican Judges. Kulik rides the cause in 2008 but in 2009 runs the Seidman campaign. Huh? DEFINITELY CONFUSING
Jaab supports the demise of the JAC and appointment process which hurts their fellow lawyers and forces the poor minorities to get even worse representation from Office of Conflict Counsel. MOST CCR LAWYERS ARE SOLID FORMER PD'S. WATCH YOUR MOUTH OR SIGN YOUR NAME.
So in the end its done little and actually has hurt those minorities its claims to want to help. BULLSHIT YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T WORK CRIMINAL COURTS ON A DAILY BASIS
Its essentially Star Magazine, interesting to read but provides little substance. YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!
TOBIN: Don't forget implementing First Appearances and Rotation.
He's done a great job and the jails are 12 to 15 percent emptier since the bad old days.
Memo to Vic and Hurley: Reduced jail cap is all is good and well until one of those you let out ends up like the guy Huckabee let out.
You gotta give the Old A-Turd credit for remaining consistent in his warped view of things. Still crying about, you know, like the way things used to be kinda thing, and my buddies who are all gone now are still my buddies even if they can't funnel me work anymore.
But his die hard perception of self and people like yet another fallen idol of his like Rotty Rothstein has gotta have the Turd starting to question himself about another of his shortcomings: Can I actually eat myself out of this corrupt bag I've now been sown into ???
That has yet to be seen of the Turd.
Bullshit!! I make a helluva living off Satz's antiquated, draconian ways, but if I could push a button and decriminalize ALL residue cases and take the mandatories out of a large portion of the victimless pill trafficking(?) cases, I would in a heartbeat!! A top notch defense ltitigator doesnt require a nazi-like gestapo prosecutor mentality to be successful....after all, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE MORE THAN ENOUGH GROSS INJUSTICES TO TURN INTO CASH AS LONG AS YOUR IN THE MOTHERLAND, BROWARD, DUETCHLAND, COUNTY.
