PAGING DR. DONNELLY, DR. SCHULSON, DR. CAMACHO
Today, courtesy of The Ticket Clinic's Larry Meltzer, Ted Hollander, and Mark Gold, JAABLOG presents the strange case of Danielle Filler. It's quite a yarn, just like The Ticket Clinic's last bit of major media, the infamous caught lying on videotape DUI cops.
Back on August 21st, Danielle was minding her own business, preparing to make a lawful left turn in her BMW, when, out of nowhere, a gigantic Bentley came speeding across Broward Blvd. The Bentley smashed into Danielle's car, knocking her back sixty-two feet until she came to a stop on the sidewalk. Luckily, no one was killed, while the crash itself was caught on video by the security cameras of Fort Lauderdale's Federal Courthouse. Her BMW was totaled.
Fort Lauderdale Police arrived. An "investigation" ensued. The Bentley had two occupants, a female named Sarah Merricks, and one Muhammad "Moe" Sohail, the registered owner of the fine automobile. Merricks was the reported driver. Sohail, of course, was Scott Rothstein's cigar store owning close buddy (See The Daily Pulp for more on Sohail).
Shortly thereafter, Scott Rothstein arrives on scene, accompanied by a man bearing a strong resemblance to Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Frank Adderley. The same Scott Rothstein accused of stealing over a billion dollars, and, apparently, the same Chief of Police whose Department was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by Rothstein for personal security. A Bova Restaurant take away bag was spotted in the Bentley.
As strange as it might seem, no DUI investigation was conducted, despite the obvious indicia of possible intoxication. Whether or not the man resembling Adderley had any input into this decision is unknown at this time. Merricks was only cited for Operating Against License Restrictions (driving for non-business purposes on a hardship license). Whether or not Merricks' license was restricted because of this 2008 case is unknown at this time, featuring a currently open Leaving The Scene Of An Accident charge and DUI and DUI Property Damage counts that we're told have been dismissed (the driving on the hardship case stemming from the crash is also believed to have been dismissed). Merricks and Sohail were then allowed to go on their own to Holy Cross Hospital, also a major beneficiary of Rothstein money. It is believed that Rothstein drove them to Holy Cross.
And what about poor Danielle Filler? For her trouble, she was cited for a liability inducing Failure To Yield Left Turn (linked above). The case was later dismissed by Judge DeLuca.
JAABLOG has some of the reports, but not in a linkable Adobe format. Here's some of the highlights:
Upon arrival both vehicles were at final rest. The driver of V1 (Filler) was treated and taken to Broward General for treatment. The driver and passenger of V(2) went on their own to Holy Cross Hospital ... (Witness) 1 stated that he was at SE 1st St. and SW 2rd Ave. in the left turn lane and V2 passed him at high rate of speed northbound. (Witness) 1 further advised that after crossing over Broward Blvd. V2 and V1 collided as V1 was attempting to turn left ... According to video of the accident it shows V1 making a left turn and V2 colliding with V1 ... V1 was cited.
So there you have it. Some pretty funky stuff, even for funky Fort Lauderdale. Is that Adderley in the picture? Does he regularly turn up in civilian duds for car crashes? Why didn't the police do a DUI investigation or ask for a blood draw? Did Rothstein's money play a role? Will State Attorney Satz investigate this case for real? Is anybody paying attention?

Well, here's what Goodfella said about the crash: "when your girlfriend should have been arrested for dui when she smashed your bentley rothstein came running to your rescue and saved you and her."
It all kind of comes together. And here's the kicker: Moe Sohail himself told me that he was "sure" that Goodfella was Rothstein ...

I heard that Judge Hurley met with that boy in Deerfield who was burned by other school kids. I hear he said he was committed to restoring dignity to the young man and apologized for him recently being called a human torch. Great job Judge. You are all the good things they wrote about in the Happy Times and then some.

Obvious indicia... None were mentioned in the article. What were they? Maybe its late, maybe i cant read well, but none were mentioned in the article (i dont think). What were they? I mean, in Jaablog approved courts, the motion to suppress would still be granted(jk), but what were they? Just curious, yet tired. Sorry if i missed it.
And that "adderly" image is about as conclusive as the average police show up.

What would have happened to a poor black guy who smashed his old shitbox into a white lady's BMW at a high rate of speed? What if he didn't have a valid license like the Bentley driver? What if he was out on bond for DUI like theBentley driver? You think he would have gone free?

Rothstein shows up to put the quash on the cops? What has this place become where jerks like Rothstein can influence sworn police officers in their duty? There should be a complete investigation into this outrageous scenario. Were these the same cops that were on Rothstein's payrole before it ran dry? What does it take to wake people up in this town?
That is the chief in the picture. Not sure what is going to come of this, but the people at FLPD involved with Scott must be scared, even with the association.
If Satz doesn't do it then the FBI must investigate the Adderley and Rothstein relationship. In fact Satz should call in the FBI since he is friends with Adderley and Rothstein. This could be another Jenne situation.
Wasn't there some female attorney that was found dead out west in a drainage ditch that was close friends to a secretary over at Rothstein's office? I don't remember the specifics of the case but its very weird.
No wonder the FBI stays camped out in Broward. How many others beside Alu is wearing a wire? If that's what it takes to clean the place up, so be it.
Hey, I'm surprised Rothstein didn't drive them to the airport to depart for Morocco with the cop providing security until they were seated on the plane. This town needs a serious adjustment.
