GOLBURGH v. MERRIGAN
Attorney Lloyd Golburgh has filed to run for County Court, Group 4, against Judge Ed Merrigan.
This one will be interesting to watch. Merrigan is an active duty soldier and a nice guy, but also a highly political JNC/Crist pick, since he's related to either Mayor Seiler or the JNC's Richard Zaden by marriage (we'll try to confirm which one later). Seiler, of course, has also been a Satz and Dale Ross supporter through the years.

Poor Kulik what have your wrought... I saw you and Lloyd hanging out at your little pirate bar a few weeks back. You think you are something but you are soon going to learn by picking this fight how the big boys play. I am sure those close to Merrigan will be well aware of who the other Kulik buddies are i.e. Seidman, Hurley and any support they may have hoped for will be gone, etc.

Wreak the entire criminal justice system to the ground I say. I don't know Merrigan or Goldburgh from a hole in the ground but the system itself is racist and broken. Maybe if they all have to crawl over each other for there precious power rings the people brutalized by the system will catch a break.

I am a professional woman (Architect) who enjoys reading your blog from time to time ever since my attorney brother mentioned all the crazy courthouse happinings in Broward County.
I noticed Mellisa Minsk Donahoe just filed her papers to run against Judge John Hurley. I have watched Mr. Hurley on the TV for months now and I am very impressed with his fair but firm demeanor and his willingnes to listen to people. I do not believe the garbage in the newspapers about him. His flight to Tallahasse to watch a football game; who cares! My brother mentioned he did not have to report the money spent on the trip till July of 1010. The old lady who was arrested. He followed the rules, did not touch the bond, and respnded to a reporters questions about firing the legal aide attorneys by saying - "it's like Fed-Ex, they do not fire the employee if one package is lost." His bad choce of words was not maliciously directed towards the old lady. It is too bad she is old, failed to show to court, and the DA screwed up his paperwork.
I do not support women who run for office just because they are women. They have to earn my respect and vote just like any other person running for public office.
John Hurley served our country in the U.S. Navy, was a former DA, ran a successful law practice, and is on TV almost every day.
My brother (a Democrat) told me Judge Hurley has the support of alot of prominent South Florida Democrats (Bob Butterworth, Howard Forman, Mayor Frank Ortis, Property Appraiser Lori Parrish, Former Sunrise Mayor Steve Effman, his Wife, Barbara Effman, along with many unelected party activists)
I am a Pro-Choice Republican, and I just heard from a friend that Judge Hurley will eran the majority of the Republican suppoert in Broward County because of the Republican Super Voter e-mail list that goes out to 50,0000 Republican Voters each election. Judge Hurley will probably spend alot of money on TV advertisements featuring his TV Court work, and he will benefit from the contested Rubio/Crist Republican Primary.
What about all of the independent voters out there who know Hurley from his almost daily TV appearances. I am woman, hear me strong, and I support John Hurley for Judge in 2010!!!

John Hurley has always been very nice to the gay people who appear before him.
Although he is not gay, his judicial temperment shows he is very gay friendly.

i have 13 toes and in magistates, judge hurley ordered new slippers for me while in-custody. I'm voting for Hurley.
I'm a drunk and while I was in-custody, Judge Hurley ordered me a drink. I'm voting Hurley.
When I went to magistrates I could not walk, Judge Hurley looked at thru the camera and all of the sudden I was able to walk. It's a miracle- I'm voting for Hurley!
John Howes will be running against an incumbent. He has parked himself in the Backman/Cohen race only so that he can raise funds and campaign at the condos. He has NO interest in being a county court judge.
He is very very arrogant.... ever notice that?.... and was very disturbed about losing to ehrlich/ eichner. Howes thought he was better than them and losing to them drove him crazy. so he's going for ... an incumbent. Who? We'll see in April... won't we.

Judge John Hurley's Father is an Ex-World War Two Pilote, and retired Delta Pilot. God Bless him. He has raised a wonderful son who is serving our community. John is a Navy Veteran.

I am an African American political activist and remember how Attorney John Hurley was so nice to me when my juvenile son was charged with an adult crime he did not commit. He was innocent. Mr. Hurley hired a really good investigator who took lots of statements from alot of different witnesses.
My son case was dropped down from adult court to juvenile court. My son's case was dismissed from juvenile court because Mr. Hurley helped the system get the real criminal and my innocent son went home free of any charges.
I thank Jesus for Judge Hurly. All my peoples will support Judge Hurley.
