Who is Debra? I never heard of her? She does not have a single published Opinion I could find. She has no chance. She has no support. Skolnik has a loyal following. He will raise all kinds of money with a few phone calls. This was dumb for Debra. There are many more races that were better for a challenger. Why pick the strongest Judge on the bench?

You want to win? Run PD Arin Veit ! She got some smoke on her, and then some! Knows law and did I mention fine smoke? When I was in jail, we all talk how we jealous when bunkie got her as PD. She come over to the box, ok, ok, I'm listening.

Skolnik, the strongest judge on the bench?. LOL. How many published opinions does Skolnik have. I just checked. None.

As an attorney who has handled criminal cases as well as civil cases in front of Judge Skolnik, as a prosecutor, as an insurance defense attorney, as a plaintiff's attorney and as a general civil litigation attorney, I have to ask myself why anyone would run against this judge? He is as fair as anyone could ever ask a judge to be. He has incredibly judicial temperament and he is intellectually honest in his rulings. This looks to me like just a shoddy attempt to ruffle judicial feathers in Broward. This is THE biggest problem with having elected judges. Judges should be able to rule on cases without fear of retribution by a deep pocketed litigant.

Does nobody want consistency in the judiciary anymore? What experience does this new candidate have? Why seek office now? I want to see where this candidate is getting her support.

Never done anything of distinction as a PD, run of the mill. nothing special and she is taking on one of the most learned and professional Judges in Broward. classless.

You are wrong. Judge Skolnik has over 140 published decisions. what has Debra ever done outside of negotiating plea deals for criminals ?

Debbie should find another race and not spend her time and mney if she really wants to get elected this time around. Skolnick has done wonders in the County Court in maintaining professionalism and fairness in his ruilings. Win, lose or draw, you always get a fair shake with him. It also helps that he's been on the bench for quite some time. He knows the law. Too many PDs and SAs are running fo rthe bench for the wrong reasons - pay hike to judiciary income.
We need to keep Skolnick on the bench and find Debbie another race to run in if she is truly that worthy.

Deb, Debbie, Debra - what ever. Never heard of her. She has as much chance as I do if I got into the ring with Mike Tyson and I weigh 128 pounds. Debra is clueless. I wish I could have seen her thought process. On her side she would have the support of public defenders. On his side, he has the full and complete support of the civil trial lawyers that make $250 an hour or so. Not even a fair fight.

Ah, to be young and naive.

    Thanks for the comedy.

Wow, $250 per hour can buy a judge.

the best part to me, if more mediocre candidates keep filing against these mediocre judges? it means solid lawyers will file too.

Even when skolnik rules against me he is fair and lets everyone argue their position. We need more judges like him. Anyone who runs against him must be a joke.

I just read this blog. WOW. I am a big fan of his. As a pip defense lawyer, I can tell you he is one of the best judges out there. You will not find a more fair judge with a sense of humor.

Skolnik's back to dancing the toe tapping beat of the Rumba. He moves pretty fast for a fat guy.

Every time the old Ross gang steps out of line they get burned. Admittedly a nice trick on Hurley. But wait until Trachman finds out her opponent.

Hey, Steinsaltz just happens to have experience in multiple fields of law. She's no pushover, even for a political Rossite.
She'd make a good judge if given the chance.
Besides that, Skolnik has the kind of skeletons that aren't going to play very well when it comes to having a female opponent. I wouldn't pass on Deb Steinsaltz yet.
If she wants it bad enough she's got some ammo against Skolnik.
What's he done while he's been on the bench except be rude to everyone every day you have to appear before him?
    He's not so popular.
He's a real jerk if you ask me, not to mention ill tempered and doesn't really know the law.
So I'd vote for Debbi any day of the week rather than face this schmo again.
He's got issues if you ask me.
