Just another sad day for Broward when yet another Broward Judge feels they are somehow entitled by office to think they can operate without regard to the rules of professional conduct.
This is particularly disturbing in that a judicial officer would seek to skirt the truth, if not blatantly mislead an investigative panel in such a manner as to show contempt for the law and the office she occupies.
I can think of no other outcome that would be acceptable but for immediate removal from office.

Interesting they only go forward on this one beef. No Patanzo or Cotrone or the others. If they cleared it all up thousands of convictions could be in jeopardy instead of one. I don't even think they need Alu now despite the camaign to discredit her by Bogenschutz.

While we giggle over the charges and comment to each other about the rumors we heard, let's not forget that at one point, Ana Gardiner was a promising young extremely smart lawyer and was a minority judge that got appointed in Broward County.
What brought her to this point?
Were the things that she has been accused of and whispered about over the years part of her psyche when she got onto the bench, or did something happen after she made it to that job?
She was someone that, when first appointed, could have achieved so much both here in Broward and beyond. She had the intellect to go to a DCA position or maybe even higher, and then it went so very very wrong.
Whispers about sexual/private relationships with lawyers and other judges.....
Cowboy hunting at Judicial Conferences with her former best friend Joyce Julian....
Involvement with the Aleman debacle....
The list goes on and on.
So if she gets removed based on these allegations being proven....then good.....one more bad judge gone.
But it's not a happy day. It's just another sad, embarassing, and pathetic day for our County, which continues to show why it is the so-called epicenter of corruption in the State of Florida.
Hey, man, it was no big secret around the courthouse. How she thought she could get away with it is anyones guess. How about the other "non-social relationships"? Her phone bill must be way out there just like her behavior.

A lack of back civility, decency and morality will catch up to you. On the positive side, I see things SLOWLY changing for the better. I see alot of scared judges.
The judge and prosecutor should not have been having dinner together.
Judge Larry should not have taken from that elderly woman.
Both created a presumption of impropriety. Both will now deal with the fallout.

Finally, the courthouse is actually starting to come apart at the (moldy) seems.
Everyone is getting opposition, lawyers are deciding ENOUGH IS ENOUGH in that place.
Nearly everyone in that building is tainted by the stench of decades of old-boy network deals and corruption.
The new crop of 20+ candidates vying for judgeships don't have that same issue. Give them a chance and we can really bring some accountability and a fresh attitude to the courthouse.
