Attorney Robert Gary Nichols has filed against Circuit Judge Carlos Rebollo.
Rebollo is another Crist appointee, well respected after a long stint in the SAO and a couple of years in Dependency.
He is, of course, Hispanic. Let's hope this isn't more racial targeting, although, on its face, it reeks of it.

Yes, Rebollo is a hispanic judge.....but can't it just be that he's another Republican appointee who hasn't been on the bench for very long and only has a history as an Assistant State Attorney?
I like Judge Rebollo, and I'm going to vote for him.
But the fact is that Nichols has as much right to file against Rebollo as he would against another judge.
I assume he makes his choice on the seat he thinks he has the best chance of winning against a judge he believes he'd do a better job than.
Yes, we still have a handful of judges who haven't gotten opposition, but I suspect those will be filling up soon too.
Why is it that it's race baiting when someone files against a minority judge you like, but totally ok when it's against minority judges you don't like.
That is a joke. Carlos is a great judge. Great temperment, intelligence and common sense. I am all for competition but Carlos does not deserve it.
Hispanics are immune from election contests?..you have always encouraged lawyers to challenge sitting judges..
Let's not forget Pollack's seat is still wide open! time to take out another holier than thou phony and replace with someone with integrity and emotional stability.

First of all 6:29pm, you're a bigot, and you talking about diversity is like Ana Gardiner talking about abstinence.
Diversity for the sake of diversity and nothing else is a racist proposition.
I could fill the Courthouse with 90 minority judges. Does that in and of itself make it better?

The fact is that judges are elected. Get used to it.
The fact is that under Chiles and Democratic Governors, we got Republicans and Democrats and Independents appointed to the bench.
Under Jeb, we got Hard Right Republicans and Conservatives (remember the religious questions asked by the JEB JNC????).
Under Crist, we got right wingers and cronies too.
So the people will get to have their say now.
And all the judges that survive will be better for it by having some humility for having faced the voters (and maybe some pride in their community for coming out on top) and the ones that don't will be replaced by some folks who don't feel their are entitled to their 30 years and a lifetime pension afterwards.
I hope Carlos & Carlos both win. They are fine judges. but they aren't immune to the process and when they prevail, we will all be better for it.

Poor Elijah, I see Team Hurley led by Ed McGee are having a bunch of fundraisers but what is McGee doing for Judge Williams who he is also Treasurer for? Everyone knows that McGee is too tied up with Hurley to help Elijah. Elijah has a net worth of $20. He is the next one to get an opponent.
This is a bad day for Hispanics in Broward.
First they are betrayed by their false prophet Ana Gardiner. They elevated this neurotic attention seeking ego maniac and now they are shamed.
Then to top off a bad day an honorable, kind man like Rebollo gets picked on for the crime of being Cuban. There are so many other judges without opponents. This is a shame.

Ironic that a religious and ethnic race war is breaking out in Broward judicial politics all to see who gets to lock up the blacks in prison after the racist police arrest them and lie in court.

This Gardiner thing is not going to bode well in the newspapers for Hispanic Judges. It's to bad.
Rodriguez and Robollo are both fine judges who have tried to issue rulings that are fair and just an have conductecd themselves with both dignity and honor worthy of their positions. Now to have this Gardiner mess create such a bad atmosphere for two of her fellow Hispanic judges is very unfortunate for Broward.
They can thank Gardiner for her indiscretions and for their getting opponents.
I have appeared before Judge Rebollo on numerous times. This guy is awesome! I encourage all attorneys to sit in his courtroom and watch him preside. He may be Spanish, but he is a real Southern gentleman and jurist!

Nichols is taking on Rebollo??? Isn't there some sort of code that says former colleague assistant state attorneys aren't supposed to run against each other? Are PD's allowed to run against former PD's?? Nichols your breaking the brotherhood man. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Rebollo was a Broward ASA 19 years. CCU and Homicide prosecutor with over 200 felony jury trials to verdict. Always did the right thing. Never in Satz's inner circle. A breathe of fresh air in Satz's cesspool. He has my full support. He already has my money. Oh!
