Strong buzz all day about a group of judges requesting a judges' meeting.  They reportedly want an up or down vote on Chief Judge Tobin's leadership.

The rumor also made it onto JAABLOG as a comment by "Confidence Vote"Here's the text:

Confidence Vote wrote:
A majority of judges have requested a full Judges meeting for Friday and are requesting a (no) confidence vote be taken regarding Chief Judge Tobin

We called Tobin's office a few minutes ago.  We didn't talk to him, but his JA said she didn't know anything about a meeting, or anything to do with this issue.

Wait and see ...

The real question on an up or down vote is who would actually want the job if Tobin were given a vote of no confidence?

Hopefully someone comes forward and states that s/he is willing to step up and be a REAL Chief Judge for this County.

Someone posted earlier that "Rome is Burning" -- it's true, and someone in the black robes needs to step up and try to put out the fire.

    Bill check your voicemail...

Gelin, Chief Judge Vic Tobin here I wanted to respond to the matter you just called my office about.

First off let me say that I think that the Yankees trading for Curtis Granderson will put a great left handed bat in the lineup.

Secondly, about the thing you called about, did you see that article Buddy Nevins had about who would make a good replacement for Satz. Great writing, and you certainly would agree that Howard would make a great SAO, heck I will do an Administrative Order now saying Howard can serve as PD and SA.

Gelin, the nice lady came on and said I only have 10 seconds left to make my message, so thanks for your time and I hope my responses cleared up any confusion as to whether anyone called for a Judges meeting.

Bill, it's me again. I also wanted to say Youre Welcome about getting the contact with the ADL after I claimed you were running an anti-semitic blog.

It was all part of my plan to get you some good press and contacts with some people in high places.

You can buy me the newest version of Microsoft word with the updated spell-checker and thesaurus.

Oh, and by the way, remember that from 12-2, Chucks Steakhouse only charges an extra $3.95 for the unlimited salad bar with your lunch instead of the higher price after then.

I hope this answers your questions about the judges meeting. Feel free to call any time.

Vic, Tutor, Zeller, the band is on the run. Of course the Chief Judge doesnt know about a meeting, the less he knows the better. Keep your head in the sand.

If Tobin is confident about his job as Chief Judge why wouldnt he want a vote to confirm he is the right leader for the Circuit?

Leaders lead, they dont hide away ignoring requests for a meeting. Didnt you once brag Vic about your open door policy?

    Let the vote commence.....

    Holy SH*T!!!

It's like a nuclear explosion (figuratively) went off in the Courthouse in 2010.

    Dozens of judges getting opposition.

JQC Complaints coming in faster than you can read them.

The Chief railing against blogs rather than dealing with important issues.

Judges accused of hanky-panky with prosecutors, others having their candidate wife taking spy photos of lawyers, others having their spouses run against sitting judges......

Armageddon, Old Testament Stuff, Cats and Dogs Living Together!!!!

And after all is said and done and the fallout dissapates, what will be left in the Courthouse besides the cockroaches and Twinkies in the wrapper?

I bet that if anyone of you cowards wants to ask the Chief Judge a question, he would answer it if it wasn't improper. All the Chief Judge has done is what his job is and that is to make sure all the divisions have a judge assigned. He is not a cop! He is not a prosecutor! Nor is he responsible for all of the judges we have. The people who voted them in are as well as the Governor who appointed some of them are. When you complained about judges staying in the same division for years, who had a rotation system proposed. When he reassigned some of the judges, you complained it was all in retaliation. There is no pleasing most of you who put trash on this Blog. Stop complaining and start being professional. Now there are very few attorneys that their word is their bond.
  • 3/10/2010 4:34 PM Anonymous wrote:
Really? So show me the Administrative Order where the Rotation is made official? There is none?

Nice try. Again Vic talks a big game but does nothing to back it up.

The Circuit is in a time of crisis, he should face his supporters and naysayers with a role call and public vote. That settles everything. Short of that, it shows how much of a coward Vic is.
  • 3/10/2010 4:46 PM Questions for the Chief wrote:
Since apparently he reads this blog (enough to quote it to Mike Mayo instead of answering his legitimate questions), here are some basic questions the Chief should be able to answer:

    1. How many days did Ana Gardiner miss from work in the past 1 year?

    2. How many days of those missed were alleged for health reasons versus vacations?

    3. Which judges were called upon to cover her hearings/trials for these days, and were those judges asked or did they volunteer?

    4. Why did you aggressively lobby for a new courthouse in these times of financial crisis versus considering less costly renovations?

    5. Were you contacted by any third party outside the Courthouse regarding the collapse of RRA prior to you sending out the Monday morning email asking other judges to give leniency to RRA attorneys given what was occurring at the firm?

    6. How were the 5 judges that were recently transferred selected for their transfer rather than having some general policy implemented regarding mandatory transfer?

    7. Since there are no publicly maintained time logs or vacation/sick sheets made available to the public so they know which of their elected officials are working and which are not, what can you say to reassure the residents of this County that judges are in fact working a reasonable work-day AT THE COURTHOUSE when we have clear evidence that some are taking weeks of vacation at a time, others are working 4 hours a day, 3 days a week and others are absent repeatedly for alleged medical reasons?

Unlike other elected officials who do their work in public for all the world to see (commissioners, legislators, etc.), Judges work by themselves in their offices and courtrooms, where there are no reports of how many votes they missed, or who was visiting them, etc.

Answer these questions Chief Judge Tobin, or move over for someone who will.

Tanks four the questions here are youre answers

    1. You will have to do a Public Records Request to Alex Rieman with a check for $25,000 to cover the cost of copies and labor.

    2. One of the all time greatest songs is Vacation by the Go Go's

    3. Did you know that people this weekend volunteered for waterway clean up, what a great job they did.

    4. I make $145k a year and I dont even have to work a Division, what economic crisis are you talking about?

    5. Have you ever had the Kobe Beef sliders at Bova, to die for me and my friend Stuart used to dine there all the time (whisper) sorry Rieman reminded me it was not Stuart and I know no one named Stuart and why are you asking about Courthouse email anyway. Jeez what the hell was the question?

    6. How many judges does it take to screw in a lightbulb? 5, one to screw it in and the other four lift up a leg of the chair. What? You dont get it? Thats odd Tutor laughed so hard at that joke.

    7. I think Chad Henne is really going to have a great year.

Thanks for your time but its off to the 7th floor at 110 for lunch, gotta get there before Levenson and Rosenberg clean out the buffet.

There are verifiable facts -- the Florida Bar is a Racketeering organization. Period. Over 30 cases where they protect unlawful lawyers in lieu of the victimized public. The info is common knowledge.
