Her Honor?Attorney Katie McHugh is running for county court judge in 2012. She's got her eye on two occupied seats, although she may opt for an open race depending on how things shake out over the coming months. She joins Jonathon Marne, Bob Nichols, and Steve Schaet in the rapidly growing pool of announced 2012 contenders.
The 2010 Incumbent Steamroller has proven to be an inspiration for those interested in democracy and American values. The long standing hegemony of Jewish names in judicial elections seems to be a thing of the past,* and African-American and Hispanic candidates have shattered the glass ceiling still in place years after Miriam Oliphant's historic county wide victory at the polls. Lawyers, single family homes, and minority communities have spoken, and Broward's notoriously arrogant and rude judges are starting to behave like their more respected colleagues in Miami and Palm Beach.
Make sure to say "hi" to Katie when you see her in the courthouse. Get to know her now, and support her later.
* Some of the Jewish challengers report that they carried some of the major condos and still lost, which can't be good news for Satz ...

Good luck Judge Weinstein. You have always been a pleasure to be in front of (a bit slow...but a pleasure nonetheless). Hope your first order of business if to rotate some of these leftover criminal judges (you know who - Levenson, Holmes).
Greenhawt is a put up job to make it look kosher.
First, Weinstein would be a great choice. We should all support him. As for the 3 challengers that is great news as well. Personally, I think the weakest links are Diaz, Zeller and Feiner (Feiner may retire anyway). The PIP lawyers love Judge Lee. He has no problem holding United Auto to court orders and sanction them appropriately. He can be a pain in the butt with his rules but they will back him. He is a real TRIAL judge. He runs a tight ship and smart.

We need to rotate Goldenberg and Birken out of family division. Problem in Broward is that these judges become stale and forget they are to serve the public. Try to get a trial date before Goldenberg. No chance. She does not want to work. She rather preach. That is not what she is trained to do. Put her in civil division NOW.
Things to watch for in the next two years:
Breslaw returns as Jordan Jordan.
Donoho takes Diaz to lunch where she gives sound political advice.
Nichols becomes a political force.
Mike Robinson runs unopposed.
Holmes gets an opponent who fails to comprehend the black turn out for Obama.
Lopane gets and opponent, but wins easily.
Sprinkles convinces some poor Jewish lawyer that he=she can win on their name, only to get spanked.

Greenhawt would be new blood. She has shown she can work with both sides of the aisle, Tobin's administrative judge in Family and has Bonnie as her JA. Rumor has it that "NHI" Greene and "make my son a judge aka bff w/ gardiner" Backman are trying to steamroll Weinstein into CJ

She will be a great candidate! She is says what she thinks and is not a phony. She has not been a part of the "politial" process which is a good thing.
Only respect for Ms. McHugh, she has all the necessary qualities to be an excellent judge. Hope she prevails in 2012.

Where oh where are we going to place Gottlieb. The powers that be are wondering where they can put Gottlieb now that he is a judge. Can't do criminal, doesn't know PIP, so no central courthouse, doesn't really know civil all that well either, except collections, so the satellites aren't very good for him either. Maybe, tickets with injuries. Who is going to come in from the satellites and risk the wrath of Gelin and the defense bar from their cushy seats out on the fringes? Only time will tell.
