HERALD ENDORSES ROCQUE
Professor Mickey Rocque, Mike Rothschild, and Julio Gonzalez have been selected by the Miami Herald for circuit court. The article is here. The county picks haven't been announced, and we're told the Sun Sentinel has yet to schedule interviews.
The Herald's choice of Rocque over Dale Ross is heartening. They obviously performed due diligence behind the scenes, instead of solely relying on the quickie interview process. Let's hope they also follow through before making county recommendations, after failing to ask interview questions concerning Bobby Diaz's JQC suspension for threatening and abusive behavior, and his chronic in-court absenteeism.

my guess is that Roque will win then. People don't read blogs and rely on endorsements. I guess Diaz will win then too if they did not ask about the JQC thing.

Rothschild and Gonzales and Rocque. The SS will go the same way except for Rocque. They were in bed together with Ross for a long time. That's why the courthouse is a mess.

Not a fan of either chap, however I will now revise my previous forecast as a result of the Herald endorsement.
Initially, I predicted that with all of the energy against Ross on this blog the race would be Ross 68% to Rocque 32%.
Now with the Herald endorsement and the negativing blogging on here by the same five people in repetative fashion, I predictict the race will now end up Ross 67.5% to Rocque 32.5%.
Keep up the Ross bashing. It is starting to take a toll.

there are two problems with mickey. First, he is way too annoying to be a judge. He also has some screws loose in his brain, as evidenced by his completely bizarre behaviors. Definitely not judicial material. I mean come on, there should at least be the appearance of respectability.

Why didn't the Herald mention the wonderful job Gonzalez had working for Rothstein. No cases(or very very few) and over $150,000.00 year plus keep your cases. Almost no work and all that money. Wow. What was Gonzalez doing? Makes a great smoke screen to have judges being paid for nothing but smiling. Anyone say claw back. Oooooops Did I say thaaaaaaat

How much will Ross charge to cover a parking ticket in Deerfield? That's not too far from Pompano. It should be like 35 bucks since he can change out of his bathrobe, get up to Hillsborough, and still be home in time for his nap.

To say Judge Ross is “Pro Prosecution” could be considered by some as “Tough on Crime”. Out of thousands of rulings, trials and other decisions in 32 years Judge Ross was rarely overturned.

Dale was never forced to step down he chose to resign due to personal tragedy and physical problems. Specifically, within a year of stepping down, Dale’s brother passed suddenly and his wife was diagnosed with cancer (she survived) also at the same time Dale had to undergo double hip replacement and was unsure how long he would be recovering/doing physical therapy so he decided it would be best to step down.

I have known Julio Gonzalez for about 15 years and I can't say that I know a finer human being and legal mind than Julio. He did an outstanding job as a county court judge and it is abundantly clear that the person who has disparaged his reputation on this blog is doing so to benefit one of his opponets, both of whom have little to no trial experience. Best of luck to Julio who deserves the seat. He is a wonderful person and will once again be a wonderful judge.

Sorry but I dont care about any of Julio's opponents, I do know that he goes out of his way to mislead people about his work for Rothstien and Nurik. He chooses to conceal this information, why? He did nothting wrong. Also, putting down a contribution from the deceased Joe Carter on his financial reports, huh? Valuing his home in a way to avoid being shown as having a negative net worth (when he tried to short sale it 6 momths prior for 200k less?). As Nevins reported by "Julio Math" his house went up 50% since 2008 while the rest of the county lot their equity or are under water. I am sorry Julio plays too fast and loose with the truth for me. Maybe that was why Rothstien hired him but it will be the reason why for a second time the voters of this county will see through his bs and vote for someone else.
Julio's old boss Rothstien has stated he bribed Broward Judges. My sincere concern is besides Julio Math, playing loose with his financial statements, being in foreclosure, making only 85k year in his practice and being sued for unpaid AMEX debt while he was still on the bench, shows that Julio has issues with his finances.
