THURSDAY NOTES

Title    A Study In Avoidance
Type   Digital Image
Year    2012

Cover Up? - lots of people are mighty upset about the way the alleged jury room frolics are being dealt with.  BSO is acting as if nothing happened, which is calling into question the credibility of some good people.  Tensions are also mounting inside a certain North Wing courtroom.  Will the true facts come out, or will everything Browardly possible be done to avoid at least a week's worth of Jay Leno nationally televised monologue yuks?  We'll certainly let you know what little we can find out, while the powers that be do their best to keep things safely under the covers ...

Where's Bobby Diaz? - our favorite free period pastime has developed into an entertaining game of cat and mouse.  The picture above was taken Wednesday morning, after Diaz had once again sworn in a massive pool of voters/potential jurors.  While it looks like he's leaving the jury room area, he's actually going back in, to avoid having his picture taken.  Lawyer/photogs no longer need to speculate as to why Diaz stopped exiting through the main entrance of the jury room across the hall from large cafeteria windows, for as soon as he saw JAABCAM through the reinforced glass on the back door guarding the restricted jurors' area, he turned tail.  In any event, Diaz's early rising for jury duty at 8:00 AM* must be taking a toll, since he took yet another afternoon off from court Wednesday, after disposing of a morning docket consisting of six arraignments and a change of plea.

The horse we're beating is way beyond dead, but shouldn't Peter Weinstein do something about Diaz's unwillingness or inability to properly manage his court time?  How is it possible to have 140, 160, or even 200 cases on Thursday morning's calendar call dockets, while shutting down court so frequently during the rest of the week?  Shouldn't more of those calendar calls be set down for hearings and trials?  And with well over 1000 cases in the division, shouldn't Weinstein be monitoring Diaz's dockets, as Dale Ross once did over concerns regarding Larry Seidlin's productivity?

Some things never change, and it seems like Weinstein's chief judgeship campaign promises for a strong judiciary were mere lip service.  Simply stated, the Broward judiciary will never be strong or earn the respect its good judges deserve, unless all judges are required to work full days and make themselves available to the community they serve ...

* Diaz dockets start at 9:00 AM or 9:30 AM

The thing that is making me really fume is how these people have the shame to race up to tallahassee crying for more judges or telling the legislature they can't keep up with the work so they need MORE judges and MORE money from the taxpayers. how the papers don't look into why the taxpayers are being raked over the coals is just shameful. it's one thing to keep slacker judges but it's another to ask taxpayers to keep paying them...them smack them to the ground again by asking for more money and judges because the work can't get done. this really needs to be brought out because it's outrageous and the economy is not good with so many unemployed yet they keep asking for money

FLORIDA'S BROWARD COUNTY WAS RECENTLY RATED ONE OF THE WORST PLACES FOR BUSINESSES. FORECLOSURES IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA IS STILL ONE OF THE TOP THREE PLACES IN THE NATION. JOBS ARE SCARCE AND OUR JUDGES AND POLITICAL MONARCHIES ARE SENDING CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS TO NEW JERSEY FOR CAMPAIGN PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS (THE SCIM).

YOU ASK THE PUBLIC FOR YOUR VOTES...WHY NOT SUPPORT LOCAL INDEPENDENT BUSINESSES BY USING LOCAL COMPANIES IN BROWARD COUNTY OR AT LEAST IN THE STATE, AND NOT THE VARIOUS FORMAN FAMILY BUSINESSES.
CAMPAIGN REPORTS PAST AND PRESENT TELL A VERY TELLING STORY

SOME OF THESE VERY SAME PEOPLE WANT TO AND PLAN TO CONTEST TERM LIMITS...DISGUSTING!!!

You also have so called Judges son-in-laws and husbands & wife's sending in campaign contributions to other people running for office...ain't that right officer RIBAS AS WELL AS OTHERS.

You can call it stalking if you like but the taxpayers call it looking out for the little guy because nobody else seems to care we are getting raked over the coals. Paying judges or other people who don't work may not be anything new but racing up to tallahassee to ask for more judges and more money because the work doesn't get done is just beyond obscene.

Boy is 5:01 stupid. EVERYBODY knows politics is a game called STICK TO MESSAGE. The blog should keep pounding on Diaz so he either loses and/or he wins BUT a message is sent to all the other do nothings to GET TO WORK. If the blog leaves Diaz alone everyone will forget all about Diaz in 30 seconds and EVERYONE loses.

    Billie Boy,

Is it true that you were in court on behalf of your client(s) less than one hour last week? By your logic, you were doing nothing (outside of stalking) almost all week. We can assume that you were not working on any motions because, by your logic, judges don't do anything unless they are on the bench...so why bother?

But who am I to criticise "The Best Lawyer in Broward County?"

Rothstein needs to tell everything and everything should be allowed and transparent.
Reduce Rothstein's sentence if he can clean up Broward!!!

What will Bobbie do if he loses? He can't touch his pension for a few more years. Can they live on a Clerk's Office salary? Do Josie and the pussycats have enough cases to support him? What about doing coverage? How much does that pay? If he thinks GM or Ford is looking for a former Broward County Court Judge to sit on the Board of Directors he's got another thing coming.

Heard the judge's parking lot collapsed during demolition. Anybody caught in the cave in? Oh, I forgot. Judges have to come in to work to park their cars. Broward sure is a strange place. It's the only judicial circuit where judges work from home when they're not out campaigning.
