MEET JUDGE SCHERER

This is not a drill ...

Phones started lighting up around 6 pm - Liz Scherer is your new circuit court judge.  She'll be taking over for Lynn Rosenthal in Dependency in January.

Did Bill Scherer's resignation from the JNC have anything to do with Liz's promotion from ASA to judge?  Will the elder Scherer now reapply for the JNC?  And will he apologize for trash talking the blog during Gardiner's trial?

In any event, congratulations to all the applicants!

Coming Soon - circuit judge Stacy Ross?

    In re: JNC
There should be lifetime JNC term limits.
Perhaps no more that a total of eight years on a JNC in one's life.
And, no more than one person from a firm can serve with anyone from the same firm or married to or formerly married to anyone from the same firm at the same time.
There are more than 6k lawyers in Broward. It seems as though there are plenty of other qualified JNC candidates.

This was judge Fry's position. It is bullshit this woman won. Could it be because Rick Scott needed the support of her Dad? Rick Scott must go.

@ 9:55 why should she be embarrassed or never advance in her career just because of who her parents are? I hope she laughs all the way to the bank. Sounds like you have a case of the Green Eyed Monster.

For my part I'm not jealous over her getting a low paying job. If her father shares the wealth she doesn't need money anyway. I am disturbed by the message this sends to others. If someone hasn't sprung from the loins of a politician, judge or power player or married to someone like that thou need not apply no matter how deserving.

Why are you people surprised, we are in Broward and clearly knowledge or experience is not a requirement for any job.. Look at history Mardi (Racist) Cohen, Barbara (Idiot) McCarthy, or the former Judge Seidman..... Please do not pretend that anyone would expect anything less, Broward is a total JOKE. All that is guaranteed is more discord, pay attention people, the roller coaster is leaving the station...

It appears that attorney's with far greater experience and legal knowledge were overlooked. Is it true that Rick Scott appointed her so that he will garner support for his re-election? How much will this add to his campaign coffers? Lastly has anyone see her litigation skills in trial?

Now this new judge,Liz Scherer, dsughter of the great and powerful wizard, Bill Scherer, has to live with knowing that she got appointed based not on her abilities and contacts with the community but on her lineage. She has to bear the burden of proving to HERSELF and to the community that she earned the position of circuit court judge and that she can be a fair and learned jurist. Keep in mind that she is young, has only a background in prosecution, never ran a law office or had clients, never been involved in the community as a member of any charity or civic organization. She simply hasnt earned this position on her own merit. She has this burden to carry everyday. Yes, she is a judge, no question about it.... but will she serve as well as those who were her opponents that had more work and life experience? Life is definitely not fair.

Clearly her appointment was a disappointment to many. Politics is alive and well.

Heard a story about her that she took the fall for a screw up by one of her division mates because she knew Satz wouldn't give her a hard time. She seems like a good person. However, this clear case of political ass kissing should be publicized. Will any reporter stand up and expose Rick Scott for the clear abuse of his ability to appoint judges to gain political favor. How does this prosecutor get this position over Abbie rifkin who has been a prosecutor for over 25 years. John fry got royally screwed. Putting her in circuit instead of county adds insult to injury. Unfortunately all of you butt kissers will give her money come election time instead of taking a stand and supporting the person who has the guts to run against her.
